What Happens In The Dominican Stays In The Dominican?
A few weeks ago there was grousing from other MLB scouts and front offices that we had stashed this guy away and were keeping him from other teams.
But now the Mariners have him stashed away?
Is this kid Ayman al-Zawahiri with a bat? Do MLB teams have networks of safe houses and tunnels and spider holes honeycombing the Dominican landscape where prospects disappear until signing day…or until another team’s scouts track them down and smoke them out?
Just what in the hell goes on down there in the run up to international signing day? It sounds like the basis for a bad sequel: Moneyball Dos: Dominican Boogaloo.
