A REAL 6-18 minors thread

So people don't have to put up with HurlerHurley's bullshit, here's some actual minors information...

Star-divide

OKC is tied with Nashville, 6-6 in the 9th. Josh Rupe continues to be horrible, allowing all 6 runs (although only three are earned) over 6.1 IP.

Julio Borbon is 3-5 with an RBI, and Jose Vallejo is 2-4 with his second AAA homer. Max Ramirez is a big 0-5.

Frisco is just wrapped up a slugfest win over Corpus Christi,  winning 13-9 Check that, Beau Jones has actually blown the lead, and it's 13-13. I thought the box score said it was over, but apparently not. Frank Francisco and Dustin Nippert, both on rehab assignments, didn't allow a hit in 3 innings between them, but Kasey Kiker got lit up for 5 runs (4 earned) on 8 hits and a walk in 4 innings.

On the offensive side, Mitch Moreland continues to rake, going 3-5 with a double, and Marcus Lemon went 3-5 with 4 RBI. Somehow Johnny Whittleman went 4-5 with 2 doubles, as well.

Bakersfield is scoreless in the third with Visalia, 2 hits and no runs for both teams. Ryan Tatusko's on the mound for the Blaze.

And finally, Hickory got hammered by West Virginia today, with the previously untouchable Wilfredo Boscan getting ripped for 5 runs on 7 hits and a walk in 2.2 innings. Fabio Castillo also gave up 3 on 6 hits in 2.1 IP.

On the bright side, Macumba De Los Santos was 3-4 with a double and 3 RBI.

Yeah, I thought the box had a zero up in the top of the 9th when I first looked

Guess not.

yea, no worries... I think Smithy is gonna win it here anyways, Gentry on 3rd, 1 out.

but its pretty amazingly bad that they just blew a 12-1 lead, especially considering, FX2 and KK pitched in the game

i am pretty sure

three earned runs over 6.1 innings is a quality start.

LSj

Is Erik Morrison at Hickory a prospect? I think he was drafted last year and was a college SS. Looks like he is getting time and 1B and some other IF positions?

no he's not

he was a senior sign after being drafted in something like the 48th round. I enjoyed watching him play at KU, and I think he is a solid ballplayer, but he would have to enjoy an amazing rise to even reach AAA ball. He is an org guy in the truest sense.

adding to that

he has a reputation as a solid defensive player with some versatility, but his bat will almost certainly limit him going forward. He would have to jump to BAK and hit the cover off the ball to even sniff a top 30 list.

Two walk off winners tonight in the minors

OKC gets a double from Nate Gold to win the game 8-7 in the 11th after falling behind 7-6 in the top of the 11th

Man, Bakersfield is now in the 12th tied 1-1

Tatusko went 7.2, a really nice effort. Corey Young followed him with 3.1 hitless innings and now it’s Adalberto Flores, who I’ve never heard of before.

Heck of a pitching duel.

And Engel Beltre singles home the winning run in the 12th with 2 out

After a failed bunt attempt and a ground ball that advanced the runner. Awesome.

really, really great

to see Corey Young have such a good, clean outing. If he can get his walks under control, he will come on fast.

That poor lineup needs a shot of Bianucci. It is an embarrassment to the Cal league.

Borbon

is really coming on strong in June. It would be nice to see a little power, but everything else is coming along nicely.

Tim Smith

does anyone who has seen Tim play tell me if he projects to have much power? Was he more of a contact hitter at ASU? He has really improved his K:BB ratio this year so far.

I think it was Scott Garner who said

he puts on a real show in batting practice. He’s a pretty big guy. I’ve never heard anyone say that he projects to a large amount of power, though.

Not horrible

I think I’ve only seen him twice, though.

His only season at ASU

was .345/.457/.463

Like Z said though, he’s a thick guy. I think he could be a 15-20 homer guy eventually if all goes well.

he'll hit

a few. i see him as a 4th of in the ML. he walks enough. fouls off alot of tough pitches. his K’s aren’t bad. good baserunner. can definitely hit. there is always a place for a guy like that.
