Around SBN: Win or Lose, Boston Celtics' New Big 3 Era A Success

Next 9 Games

The Rangers had a 4-5 homestand with one rain-out.  Only winning the Houston series.  The next 6 games are on the road and the following 3 will be at home.  Let's hope that the offense can pick it up over the next 9 game stretch.

Next nine games look like this:

Star-divide

Fri, Jun 19 @ San Francisco 10:15 PM

Sat, Jun 20 @ San Francisco 9:05 PM

Sun, Jun 21 @ San Francisco 4:05 PM

Tue, Jun 23 @ Arizona 9:40 PM

Wed, Jun 24 @ Arizona 9:40 PM

Thu, Jun 25 @ Arizona 9:40 PM

Fri, Jun 26 San Diego 8:05 PM

Sat, Jun 27 San Diego 8:05 PM

Sun, Jun 28 San Diego 8:05 PM

All games are against the NL West.  These are all pretty winnable series.  I think the Giants pitching could give the Rangers some problems, but they won't see Lincecum.  I like us to win all 3 series and sweep one of them.  I'm going to say 7-2 because I'm feeling optimistic today.

Are we gonna have one of these every 10 days or so?

We have almost 100 games left. Alot of them against our divisional opponents. If we just stay around 10 games over .500 we will be in the race until the end of the year.

Plan

That’s the plan. I’ll go about 3 series at a time. It kind of breaks up the season a little bit.

I voted 6-3...

…of course last time I voted 7-3 and was greatly disappointed (nice series against the Jays, ugh!) so hopefully my optimism is better rewarded this time.

I went 4-5

just don’t like that west coast trip with the way the offense is going

The fact that the offense

didn’t get healthy at home is very worrisome.

Exactly...

I voted 5-4 because of two of the offenses the Rangers will be playing though (SF and SD).

The trip to Arizona could be bad.

I voted 4 - 5

This is where the bubble bursts. We lose 1st place, slowly slide into 3rd over the course of the year. Most of our propsects continue to fail, or stay hurt. We finish too high in the final standings for an impact pick, our farm system gets ranked a medicore 19th with the hope of career revivals. We slip back into another 7 years of trying to break threw. Hicks sells the team to Corbin Bernsen of Major League fame. Nolan dies while trying to get back into game shape and JD gets elected president.

IT STARTS TONIGHT.

as for my prediction,

I’m going 5-4.

We take two from SF and AZ while dropping 2 to the Fathers.

I'm optimistic

The Rangers will have trouble in SF, but given the fact that the bats don’t even work at home, it shouldn’t matter that they won’t work there. But Johnson, even at 53 or whatever he is + Rangers bats = bad news (1-2)

Playing in Arizona maybe will help ignite the bats, I think their park plays somewhat like RBiA. (2-1)

And playing San Diego should make every team drool. If they just IBB AGon every time, they should have no problem winning that series. (3-0)

I say 6-3

To be honest, at some point in time, the offense should break out of its funk. Might as well be now.

Remember Red, hope is a good thing. Maybe the best of things. And no good thing ever dies.

5-4

thankfully for our offense they don’t have to play AT san diego right now

Hall of Fame pitcher Nolan Ryan was on the same pitching staff with Danny Darwin during the 1986 through 1988 seasons. Both were described by Milo Hamilton as "tall, tough Texans." It was a source of debate amongst Astros players and fans over who would win in a fight, Ryan or Darwin. Though Astros pitcher Bob Knepper attempted to set up a fight between the two during spring training in 1988, manager Hal Lanier stopped it before it could commence. Many experts, including Astros shortstop Rafael Ramirez, felt that Darwin would win because he "looked like someone no man would want to mess with."

We're a proud bunch, us Texans!

lol

I am sure you remember the beating it was to the players (as well as fans) in 2000, how long before that has a major negative impact on that team? It’s really hard to keep up in a race with a BP full of gas pumps.

It should be 6-3 or better since we usually beat the shit out of shitty teams

However, knowing how shitty our offense is right now I’ve likely jinxed them by being even sort of optimistic and we’ll go 5-4 or 4-5 now.

Get on base or die, Salty.
