Per EG - Josh Hamilton to DL
4:09: Josh Hamilton going on the DL with an abdominal strain that may or may not be a sports hernia. Rangers will wait a week or two before making a determination if he will have surgery. At present, the most accurate projection is he could be out two weeks or two months. Will link to full story when available.

That Andruw Jones signing is looking good ..
This is not good, but at least we have some OF depth.

Jones is not that good of OF depth
Since he isn’t all that good at playing the OF at this point in time.
By 2028, Mark Teixeira will be in the HOF.

Very disappointing.
Yeah we’ve done it this far without him, but the offense needed to improve to keep it up and Hamilton was the best shot at getting things going.
Davis really needs to pick up some of the slack now.
Get well soon hammy. I’m assuming this ends in the surgery.
the preceding post was a great success.

Disappointing, but at least
he will now be resting and hopefully getting healthy. Don’t hurry back, Josh. I agree now would be a wonderful time for Davis to go on a hot streak.

Isnt Harrison on the DL?
If so, who is up that will be sent back down when he gets back? Boggs is up for Hamilton. Moscoso was sent down. Does that mean someone like Benson or Everyday will be DFA’d??

Murph/AJ...
They should be able to provide a pretty solid OBP in Josh’s absence, but probably not produce the power numbers or power threat that Josh is capable of. Hopefully its on a couple of weeks, we should be able to survive if that’s all it is.
I’d say .275/.360/.465 is reasonable from the Murph/AJ combo for a couple weeks.

hmm...
Tonight Wash should go with… Kinsler, Andrus, MY, Cruz, AJ, Byrd, Murphy, Davis, Salty
Platoon Murphy and Boggs in LF. Let AJ DH on most nights. Blalock gets occasional DH and 1B ABs depending on the opposing pitcher.

Personally
Id just move everyone after hamilton down a slot, cruz 3rd.
the preceding post was a great success.

that means Blalock or Byrd at cleanup and I can't stand the thought of that
I’d rather see Andrus batting second.

Personally, I don't want Davis in the 9-hole
Even though Kinz has been crap lately, I want someone who at least have a chance of reaching base hitting in front of him. I’d go:
1. Kinz
2. Murph
3. MY
4. Cruz
5. ’Druw
6. Byrdbrain
7. Salty
8. KKris
9. Andrus

The way Murph has been walking lately
I think I’d rather see him in the 2-hole than Andrus, myself.
(and wow – there’s something I never thought I’d say)

Man this blows really hard. Damn sports hernia? Never even heard of that
until about three years ago. Now two of our guys have gone down for long periods. I suppose JH can come bak this year, but I’m not counting on it.

So...
Maybe it was a good thing we didn’t get that extension done after all?

Exactly.........
Let Josh prove he isn’t Eric Davis or Milton Bradley before you break the bank to sign him to a long-term deal.

Yeah, I was fine with not getting a long term deal done
might as well take advantage of year to year contracts unless you can buy out years of FA.

An extension for Josh was always a bad idea
Too old, too much of an injury history.

Yankee Stadium
You got to think Yankee fans are dissapointed. He put on a show in last year’s all star game and the new Yankee stadium has become quite the launching pad. Hamilton’s BP in the new stadium would have been a thing to see. And I would have loved to see the guy pound the ball to see if the Yankee fans still cheer him.
Signature! I don't need no stinking signature!!

gotta assume the worst
2 months with no Slam. MUST hold off the Angels…if we get him back roaring just in time for the push to the postseason, this could be a good thing for the development of this team…

I guess this has the chance of ruling Josh out of this year's HR Derby...

Then your dumbass...
should also recall the show he put on in round one. That’s what a HR derby is all about.

Ironic that last year they were both all-stars
And now the top two headlines on ESPN’s MLB page are:
Rangers’ Hamilton to go on DL with groin strain
After brief return, Reds’ Volquez back on DL
