So your telling me that Manny Banuelos is good enough to be on there but not Martin Perez? Yeah, whatever.

Saw this posted over at minorleagueball
and commented that I think it’s strange that Houston gets two guys on the roster but the #1 system gets only one.

Recent signing out of Taiwan.
Currently a relief pitcher for Corpus Christi. Excellent fastball command at 89-93 mph. Curveball showed promise.

how in the world does martin perez not make the futures game?

It’s likely that the Rangers said no. By the way, did I miss someone? I only see one Ranger on the two squads. Usually it’s two per org, even for orgs that don’t deserve the second spot.
Scout: He was a first-round pick right? Got a huge bonus?
KG: Oh yeah.
Scout: Well, he spent a lot of it on milkshakes.

Scout to KG: On Sandoval: "Man, that fat [expletive]-er can hit."

weird that Smoak isn't there.
I feel like the Rangers must have said no to a number of guys, and the roster makers eventually just said “fuck it”.
What is this, Horseville? Because I'm surrounded by naysayers.

this would have to be the case
there is no way Smoak and Perez get left off that otherwise

What a joke
The best farm in baseball, and one guy makes it. Reminds me of Dallas Cowboys bias.

What I think
Having only one player on the roster is punishment to us. MLB came to us not long ago to change the format, going from US vs. the World to rather the Rangers Minor League vs. US/World.
The Rangers had to decline, believing that it would be damaging to the prospects. No, not our prospects, but rather the other teams prospects.
Batters would never be the same facing off against Feliz, Perez, Beaven, a healthy Main, Kiker, Font, Boscan, and such. Some batters would thus remark the same thing that one batter had said about Holland (“Why didn’t you swing?”…..“Yeah, like I had a chance up there”).
Pitchers would have to go the Dontrelle Willis route in stating that they had an anxiety disorder after facing off against Smoak, Moreland, Beltre, Borbon, Lemon, and the such as they continued to mash the ball thus sending these pitchers into an epic downfall. Catchers would soon realize that catching stealing runners (such as Borbon) is a playful idea that should never be done, thus ruining their runners catch skill.
Thus, MLB and the Rangers thought it would be wise if the Rangers only sent one player out there, one to soon join the Rangers, in hopes that it would not ruin the other prospects….they are the future you see…..
That's not hail you see in Frisco....that just Justin Smoak's Home Runs coming back into orbit....
