What is this, Horseville? Because I'm surrounded by naysayers.

Beavan gave up 2 in the first but has settled down now it looks like
Boscan done after 5 scoreless only giving up 4 hits with ZERO walks. Font on in relief
Bryan Smith (12:17:17 PM PT): Justin Smoak and Josh Hamilton. The AL West might just have found their Bash Brothers, v. 2.0.

oooch Harsh
Interesting that he was there, I didnt see a guy wearing a horse head in the stands last night.
Beavan had a small contingency there last night it seemed. I saw a lady wearing a black beavan jersey filming his warm up session, then another group near my seats all wearing hats with the number 15 on the back.
Maybe that combined with the heat had some effect?

The difference was night and day
I mean, he wasnt lights out last time but was pretty good.
However his last start he still had a lot of hard hit flys and line drives but had overall better composure

Beavan
Blake is going to struggle at the AA level (and beyond) if his stuff doesn’t improve. Having excellent fastball command is a major plus, but 88-90 mph fastballs with questionable secs isn’t going to be enough to make it.
Now, as I mentioned on BBTiA, my snapshot analysis of Blake’s start was just that, a snapshot. That said, I did take issue with his inability to keep his composure when the struggles began. The defense behind him sucked and the weather was gross, but those variables aren’t exactly uncommon in baseball. Shutting down under those conditions might be viewed as somewhat justified considering he is only 20 years old and pitching in AA. Unfortunately, those 88 mph fastballs and 40 grade sliders magnify the issue. How he rebounds will be something to watch. Dealing with failure is a major part of development.

Agreed
His first home start I saw his fastball around 90-91, this last outing I was reading the scouts gun and he was hitting 88-89 most of the time which is why he was getting eaten alive.
And yes the defense was awful, but he wasn’t helping them out much either with all those hard hit liners.
I appreciate the analysis, sometimes its good to hear the negative to go along with all the good things we hear about players.

Really? Sweet.
I was about to see if I missed his start when I saw Tatsuko pitching. Very good news. But you’re right, how did this slip under the radar? Cue Rodney Dangerfield.
Does Zach Phillips have to choke a bitch to get to Frisco?

I'm guessing this happened today.
Can’t find anything yet.

hot Latin lefty Edwin Escobar makes his debut tonight for AZL Rangers
Before Alvarez, he was the best 7/2 pitcher we signed last year. Related to Kelvim (LAAAA) and Yunel (ATL) in the bigs.

HIC scores 2 in the bottom of the 12th to win
Morrison with a nice game. 2-3 with a HR and a double and 2 BBs
The Hamburgler had another scoreless outting. He seems to be either lights out or awful.
Rookies looking like rookies tonight. Rangers score three in the first on a hit and 3 errors and a balk. Nice
Thompson gives up 4 in the first for Spokane.
Bakersfield creating Santa Anna winds by King 7 times through 3 innings so far
And Zach Phillips with a nice AA debut. 3.2 with no earned runs so far
Bryan Smith (12:17:17 PM PT): Justin Smoak and Josh Hamilton. The AL West might just have found their Bash Brothers, v. 2.0.

Nooch and Morrison
should sue for their promotion. If I was a prospect busting my ass I can’t imagine I buy the explanation that you are being held back at least 1 level below your skill set because your other teammates suck at the plate…Send Gac and Gomez down and Alfonzo up for God’s sake. Hope to god they don’t get the Moreland/Smitty/Osuna treatment that they received last year, letting rot in LowA….

if I was a prospect
I’d bust my ass without worrying too much about where I was assigned.
There's more to the picture than meets the eye.

I attended the game in Hickory last night...
Quick thoughts:
Saw Nam pitch for the first time. I expected some wacky, asian throwing motion but that wasn’t the case. At first glance, he has a windup very similar to Martin’s (big leg kick and big follow through with the back leg) just a bit smoother. During his warmup, Nam threw nothing but giant, dive-bombing curveballs, but didn’t throw the pitch at all until he had gotten hit around a bit. It seemed like he was tinkering around with a changeup.
Christian Santana swings like a right-handed Hank Blalock….I thought his arms were going to fall off he was swinging so hard.
Font got hit around quite a bit until he started throwing offspeed stuff. He rarely got anywhere close to the strikezone with an offspeed pitch but the opposing batters couldn’t lay off em’.
Leonel De Los Santos looks like little leaguer as he waddles out onto the field in his gear, but damn, he’s good. Kannapolis tried to run on him early and Leonel threw him about by about 5 feet. I thought he had a man picked off at first too but the ump didn’t give him the call.

Santana.
When I saw him in Clinton last year, it was evident he had the fastest bat on the field, but he didn’t seem to be overswinging like Hank. He just seemed to be ahead of everything, even fastballs.

It was a tied game much of the night
and he might have been trying to break that tie with one swing…..I don’t think he was alone in that respect.

Alberto Arias
I did not know Wakeen Arias had a brother in the bigs.
