It looks like he is a little bit of a ball player. I checked his splits and he’s actually better at Petco this year than away.

Does he have a good +/- ?

He's -4.1 runs UZR/150 in CF this year

But he’s been worth 17 in left (though in just 13 games).

He was actually worth 3.3 runs in CF last year, and minues 2.7 in left.

Hall of Fame pitcher Nolan Ryan was on the same pitching staff with Danny Darwin during the 1986 through 1988 seasons. Both were described by Milo Hamilton as "tall, tough Texans." It was a source of debate amongst Astros players and fans over who would win in a fight, Ryan or Darwin. Though Astros pitcher Bob Knepper attempted to set up a fight between the two during spring training in 1988, manager Hal Lanier stopped it before it could commence. Many experts, including Astros shortstop Rafael Ramirez, felt that Darwin would win because he "looked like someone no man would want to mess with."

But I thought we were gonna use Feliz like we used Holland

In multiple innings as a long man. If thats the case then he would replace Mathis anyway.

I think Grilli is pretty safe myself. 5 of his 6 appearances as a Ranger have been scoreless and he hasn’t allowed any inherited runners to score.

…I think he’ll develop Mike Young type power. Not much, but it will show up now and then. Lots of liners. He’s shown early signs of patience, though, that I did not anticipate. If he can keep that up he’d be a good #2 kinda hitter. Occasional lead-off man.
