11 former rangers out of 104 players on 30 teams?
not good for the rangers if accurate
mormons stole me and held me against my will with Oklahoma beer and 12+ hour work days.
Given that most players
play for 3-4 teams, 11/104 probably isn’t any significantly above chance.
Go Rice Owls!
The teams appear to be listed by team/division/league
The Rangers only have 4 players from that 2003 team on there (ARod, Palmeiro, Juan Gone, and Everett). Of course, those were three of our putative HOFers at the time.
I’m thinking the large number of key Red Sox members is more troublesome, considering that team’s popularity.
Go Rice Owls!
Really, really need a source on this, brosephine.

and they don't give any context whatsoever either
Meh not believing this one yet.
Although Frank the Cat’s name was interesting.
the preceding post was a great success.
I'm pretty sure that was first reported
4 years ago, wasn’t it?

I'd like to see
a legitimite source for this.

well
I think you could randomly list 104 player names from 2003 and probably have about 80%+ accuracy.
There's more to the picture than meets the eye.
We need Crops and their rolodex on this one.

Scout: He was a first-round pick right? Got a huge bonus?
KG: Oh yeah.
Scout: Well, he spent a lot of it on milkshakes.

We'll note the absence of the one true modern Baseball God
Albert Pujols is not there…
Go Rice Owls!
Correct.
He is about the only one I believe who says he didn’t do it. I don’t know why, just do.

Ibanez too
Thanks to the shitstorm from earlier this month, I’m firm in my belief he has always been clean.

I wasn't basing that on his word
More on the deep analysis of his numbers that was the result of it.

This wouldn't completely exhonerate anyone
it would simply prove they didn’t fail that test at that time.

so Pujols sent this list out?

Tatis
If he took PEDs around 2003, it didn’t show in the numbers…

Who cares
I did, which is why I am posting in this thread
Dammit.
Kenny Rogers
that is a pretty interesting name. He was a pretty big whistle blower
"I just want to comment on how it’s become like a common thing in the [MLB] for guys to fall in love with [the Rangers’s] sloppy seconds." (thanks cstorm)
Maybe I'm naive...
…but I feel like there are too many “big names” on this list. Not enough small-timers.
"I love winning." - rockin_rangers, on May 16, 2009
That's exactly what I thought
Where are backup IFers, middle relievers and 4th OFers? Way too skewed towards names people would recognize.
I ain’t buying it.
Remember Red, hope is a good thing. Maybe the best of things. And no good thing ever dies.
Maybe you became a "big name"
by being on steroids?
Not that I believe that – I would actually imagine that the majority of users were fringe players, like Juan Rincon and GMJ. But who knows.
Go Rice Owls!
Also, I would think there would be more players with Latin American ties
Recalling those that have been suspended that seems to be a theme. Not being racist or anything but availability of steroids down there seems a bit more than in the US (like A-Rod’s story).
Sure, Bonds probably did them but he was supposedly taking undetectable ones. McGwire had ties to his brother that was a bodybuilder.
If anything, the big names would probably be the ones with access to and money for HGH and things that couldn’t be detected. The fringe guys would be taking regular, old steroids.
This seems like a list put together by two guys looking at 2003 rosters and saying to each other “oh yeah, I’m sure that guy took steroids. Put him on the list.”
Remember Red, hope is a good thing. Maybe the best of things. And no good thing ever dies.
Yeah
I saw this on rotoworld yesterday. Moderator closed it because the author got it from a friend of a guy who knows the list. While believable, this list is bullshit.
Does Zach Phillips have to choke a bitch to get to Frisco?
Yes, this is complete BS until I get it from an at least halfway legit source.

Hard time believing it
mainly because there are too many big names on there. Sounds stupid I know, but the test was a relatively small number of players and to have that many big names within that group is strange. Makes it seem as if every good player from that era was conveniently in the test group.
Reminds me too much of when the Mitchel Report was about to come out. Throw all the good names about and maybe some of them will stick when the truth is known.
Nice.
I was about to drop a “bout fuckin’ time” comment.
Or, perhaps, Burnitz was especially egregious.

103 postive tests, 104 different places a player played.
Burnitz played for the Dodgers and Mets that year. That in itself peaks my interest more now, than before I looked it up.
This seems like a list that would be submitted to each team of who tested positive that was compiled together.
I find this actually more creditable now than I did before. If you where making up a list of players, I doubt that I would double check to see if a guy got traded.
JD’s like, "you want some fucking pitching? Here’s all the pitching you can stand. Now choke on it, bitches!"- RCCook
Not trying to validate the list but
Jeromy Burnitz was traded during the 2003 season. Someone mentioned that the list was sorted by league, division, and team so that might explain him being on there twice.
its funny
because I remember when the original SI story by Verducci came out, Kenny Rogers was one of the main major leaguers that was arguing against it vehemently. Funny how things turn out….

I think we should wait for some sort of comfirmation better than "A friend of the guy who pierced my genitals got a peek at the list" or whatever this shit is from.

KENNY ROGERS??
really, I have a hard time believing this, but I guess if Barry did them than anybody could have
Frank Catalanotto too
Double LULZ.
Get on base or die, Salty.
"I don’t think we ever envisioned that anyone could shut this offense down to one hit" - Ron Washington
if that list is close to accurate
the following sadden me
moises alou (though he DID miraculously get better as an older player)
frank catalanotto (really??)
Johnny Damon (hate oak, bos and nyy, but i like the guy)
vernon wells
kenny rogers
bret boone/aaron boone (only because both did it)
roberto alomar (hopefully he didn’t share needles)
barry bonds (say it ain’t so!!!)
andres galaragga (see alou)
shawn green (only like him because he’s jewish)
todd helton (!!!!!!!it was gonna be him or pujols that would win the triple crown some day)
Hall of Fame pitcher Nolan Ryan was on the same pitching staff with Danny Darwin during the 1986 through 1988 seasons. Both were described by Milo Hamilton as "tall, tough Texans." It was a source of debate amongst Astros players and fans over who would win in a fight, Ryan or Darwin. Though Astros pitcher Bob Knepper attempted to set up a fight between the two during spring training in 1988, manager Hal Lanier stopped it before it could commence. Many experts, including Astros shortstop Rafael Ramirez, felt that Darwin would win because he "looked like someone no man would want to mess with."
if its leaked
do any players/the mlbpa have any legal action they could take?
Scout: He was a first-round pick right? Got a huge bonus?
KG: Oh yeah.
Scout: Well, he spent a lot of it on milkshakes.

equally
could players sue the MLBPA for not making sure the samples/list were destroyed?

Donald Fehr
I have no idea why he wasn’t fired the minute the first name was leaked. It was his union’s job to make sure the list was destroyed and they drug their feet. He gave the players the OK to take the test (which they weren’t forced to do as far as I know) with the understanding that it was private. He then betrayed them by not making sure it was destroyed. He should have been there with a cigarette lighter and paper shredder himself to make sure the names were never seen by anyone. That big of a screwup should have gotten him canned immediately.
I doubt the players could sue because I doubt they could find out who leaked it. I believe that numerous law firms have copies and the government has a copy through the BALCO case. Finding out the leak is not going to be easy since I doubt any reporters would give up their sources.
Law says it's fake...
