I wouldn't say no one else thinks there's a problem with it...
you’re just making it into a case where it’s the end of the world and the world will blow up shortly because he hit 6th for one freakin’ game.
Personally if I had the choice, I would have hit him 8th or 9th likely tonight just to get his feet wet. But at this point, it doesn’t really matter where he’s hitting. I wouldn’t have hit him leadoff though like you seem to have wanted.
Ron Washington...giving hope everywhere to the kids who eat lead paint chips of being a big league manager when they grow up since 2007.

You are misinterpreting what we are saying
We aren’t defending it per say we are just not flipping out about it FOR ONE GAME. If he DHs tomorrow I will be right there with you asking what the deal is. If he is hitting 6th all week i will be right there with you asking whats up. But for one night I really don’t care more than a simple “huh?”

Sorry had to grab a bite to eat
Why?
Because there are some circumstances that don’t bother me if a guy isn’t a slugger at DH. If Elvis has been red hot at the plate but you want to give him a day off from the field I don’t mind having him DH.

go team go!
Hall of Fame pitcher Nolan Ryan was on the same pitching staff with Danny Darwin during the 1986 through 1988 seasons. Both were described by Milo Hamilton as "tall, tough Texans." It was a source of debate amongst Astros players and fans over who would win in a fight, Ryan or Darwin. Though Astros pitcher Bob Knepper attempted to set up a fight between the two during spring training in 1988, manager Hal Lanier stopped it before it could commence. Many experts, including Astros shortstop Rafael Ramirez, felt that Darwin would win because he "looked like someone no man would want to mess with."

sorry I was a little
off here with my intentions, I am not trying to give Backe a rotation spot just saying to take a freaking look at him, and 7 K/9 is not terrible for a starter Jebus
by blueballlefty on Jun 29, 2009 8:35 PM CDT up reply actions
It's not very good either.
And for a guy like Backe who doesn’t do anything like get a ton of GB’s to make up for it, it’s especially not good.
There’s just no sense in looking at Backe, in my estimation. He’s not better than anyone we currently have in the rotation.

2009 Texas Rangers: Why The Hell Not Us?--ghtd36 on May 13, 2009
Grilli had been a good reliever for 3 years in a row prior to one bad month this year.
And o’day was an average reliever last year and hadn’t allowed a run in his couple innings with the mets.
Backe had nearly a 7.0 era for his last 180 innings. 180.
the preceding post was a great success.
So the 'Stro's released him?
Pass.

No, my logic is
He doesn’t strike hardly anyone out, has a below-average walk rate and is always hurt. We don’t need him.
