as bad as last night feels

and the impending two weeks of tough baseball, this makes me feel better.

Here’s hoping Feldman can make me feel even better tonight.

Fuck it

Lets go for Oswalt, Halladay and Peavy.

Smoak, Davis, Feliz, Holland, Perez, Borbon, Font, Beaven and Main. Throw in Teagarden and Pina as deal sweeteners for any team not satisfied.

Why say no

When it feels SO GOOD to say yes.

Oswalt might be more of a #2 starter at this point

when you have Oswalt

Sheets and “the future,” that’s not bad…

I might take a run at Oswalt and Hawkins

sending back Smoak and Feliz???

Smoak, Boscan, Main, Vellejo/Duran???

Ok

How about adding Padilla to any of those

The Astros

McClane is crazy enough to try to be a buyer, not a seller. Oswalt isn’t going anywhere unless he blackmails someone or the Astros lose every game between now and July 25.

CAPTURE THE DREAM BITCHES.

Can we use that as the mantra for the 2009 Texas Rangers?

by Big50 on Jun 3, 2009 1:25 PM CDT up reply actions

Looked at schedules

Our toughest stretch is right now… very inopportune with Hammy herniated and CD going back to 8-track (at least he’s past vinyl now I hope) and Padzilla reminding us all of why we don’t want him on our team. But our schedule doesn’t get a lot easier. We still have a lot of games against MIN, TB, and of course LAA. (And yes DET in our yard)

LAA;s stretch against BOS and NYY occur in September with us sandwiched between. In fact we play them 7 times in September. And they’re getting TOR and DET right now as well… makes for interesting summer and early fall.

by bstair on Jun 3, 2009 12:14 PM CDT reply actions

I like how that sets up

If we can tread water right now and Hammy gets back in time for that final stretch the division is very much in play.

LAA

is not just having trouble with the good teams right now, but they seem to struggle with weaker teams as well, at least for the moment. If we keep beating up on those guys we should be ok.

the problem is, we don't face a weaker team for 3 weeks

by NothinG on Jun 3, 2009 1:43 PM CDT up reply actions

The only thing to save my sanity in the next week and a half or so

is the hope that LAA will lose each night. Tough stretch of games, but this is why you build a lead on the division. Just got to survive, hope for no more injuries, and maybe Davis can start showing serious signs of life.

I really think CD had a good game yesterday

nothing to show for it in the stat line but he looks to be getting his timing back and if he can get going then look out. Our biggest trade deadline acquisition looks like it may be Hamilton and if CD and Hammy get cranked up this could be a very fun ride.

I credit it to the bat that flew into the stands

the new bat, may have been lighter and he actually got around on a couple pitches

an acquaintence of mine from El Paso was the guy that caught that bat

Chris Davis

If i hear one more optimist proclaiming Davis’ ‘timing’ back, and extolling the fact that he actually HIT the ball yesterday, i’m gonna puke. Just accept the fact that he’s the new strikeout king, enjoy the 30 dingers and the first base play, and sit back and wait for Justin Smoak.

And if I see...

one more stupid comment about how a 23 year old power hitter who is going through a funk is done I’m gonna puke.

yep

Aug 25-27. The middle of a 10 game/9 day roadtrip that also includes 3 at TB and 3 in Minn. The Yankess are also off on Aug 24 so if it gets rained out maybe they could make it up on that day if the union approves.

Being in first place...

The Rangers have made the first move in trying to acquire more talent for a possible post season berth. I didn’t see this coming though.

Are waivers

revocable this time of year? I thought waivers were irrevocable until August.

Maybe I’m confused.

YIKES.

exactly what I wanted before the season: Millwood and Padilla fronting the rotation, Millwood sticking around for another year, Padilla traded before the deadline…although I didn’t expect this while we were in first place and I didn’t expect it would be all thanks to Mark Teixeira.
