1.5 GB. Like the patience at the plate tonight.
Saunders was all over the place and left some meat pitches for our guys to eat up. Don’t expect Weaver to make those kinds of mistakes tomorrow. We need Milly’s A-game tomorrow.

OK Josey
The question was posed a couple times in the GDT and you either dodged it or more likely had exited the thread. But I would like to know why you consider game score such a good stat for pitchers but quality start is crap. game score is supposed to tell you if the pitcher gave your team a chance to win the game without taking innings pitched into consideration (see the Lackey game score from his two pitch outting).
Quality start, while definitely not a great stat, does pretty much the same thing although there is a innings parameter. 6 innings and 3 runs or less. I would say that gives your team a good shot at winning and it also doesn’t burn your bullpen up.
So please tell me and the rest of us how one is soooooooo much better than the other when they essentially tell you the same thing. I won’t be able to debate you tonight because I have to get up early for work but I will revisit this in the morning

I wasn’t dodging anything. Doing crap around the house while watching/listening to the game.
One of the problems with QS is that it doesn’t tell you the difference between a pitcher that gives you 9 IP’s & 3 earned runs or a pitcher that gives you 6 IP’s & 3 earned runs.
There’s a big difference in the outing of a pitcher who has a Game Score of 89 and a pitcher who has a Game Score of 53 but both of them can be credited with a QS.
Why is 6 innings the arbitrary number?
Many times in his career, Scott Feldman gave this team a good chance to win (Rangers won 72% or so of starts where they received a Game Score of 50+) although he only went 5 innings.
It’s not a stat for everybody but if Bill James approves, it’s a good stat.

No, he put one batter on base and then the bully came into the game.

You can theoretically give up 10 hits, walk 7 and still only give up
3 earned runs in 6 IPs and get credit for a QS.
Is that a good outing?

i know the guy just calmly puts the game out in front of you
nadel does the same thing. they present the game to the fan for consumption, they dont cram it down the fans throats like josh does. they make an effort to constantly educate the fans without coming of as lecturing or professing to us. its magic. and watching lewin and knox slapstick their way through life to try to distract the fans from the actual play on field (historically to minimize the wretchedness fans had to digest 1/2 the season when we are 5+ out)
its like the rangers a looking for dumb fans who wanna watch but the club doesnt wanna educate them too much b/c then theyd be pissed about the product, so yuck monkey it up broadcasting it is. Now we are in a pennant race and every inning is important. what do we have? we got Jim Knox interviewing 7 year olds in crucial moments of the game, Lewin talking about random TV shows and Movie references, while guys like Scully throws out a stat like first pitch strikes and silently lets the crack of the bat speak to the fans before he begins the call. its night and day. and it makes me wanna fuckin puke.

Hall of Fame pitcher Nolan Ryan was on the same pitching staff with Danny Darwin during the 1986 through 1988 seasons. Both were described by Milo Hamilton as "tall, tough Texans." It was a source of debate amongst Astros players and fans over who would win in a fight, Ryan or Darwin. Though Astros pitcher Bob Knepper attempted to set up a fight between the two during spring training in 1988, manager Hal Lanier stopped it before it could commence. Many experts, including Astros shortstop Rafael Ramirez, felt that Darwin would win because he "looked like someone no man would want to mess with."

Is that split between the buyer's agent and the seller's agent?
I bought my trailer for $38,000 and my agent did an awful lot of legwork for how small a commission she must have gotten. The seller had a different agent (although they worked in the same office).
by Inkara1 on Jul 1, 2009 12:22 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
If they are realtors
the total commission is 6%, with 3% going to both the buyer and seller agents.
Thats why all the advertising to use realtors, rather than real estate agents, who have negotiable fees.

The trailer never made it onto the MLS
I’d called the agent (not sure if she’s an actual Realtor or not but she works in a Century 21 office) on a different place she was the listing agent for (but the space rent put it out of my price range). Later, we were trying to find other places when another agent in the office mentioned this place to her that was going to be up for sale. We all worked out a deal before any sort of “for sale” sign was put up.

True
But they were a part of that squad that won 89 games. Point being, Teixeira was just one part of a really nice squad. Not to mention, they didn’t win 89 in the following 2 1/2 years with him.
Not popular to say, but oh well, I give credit to Buck. He kinda had a history of taking teams to the top quickly.

Tex went to Cali
and played his ass off.
He was a big reason they won 100 games and my recollection is that he was a monster in the playoffs.
He’s doing very well in NYC as well.
Put a talented team around him (not shit like Pedro Astacio, Richard Hidalgo) that’s not managed by a human dildo like Ron Washington and your team is probably going to be good.

Yeah, he did good in the playoffs, and after a terrible start he’s been MVP worthy w/ NYY. Doesn’t take away from the fact it was a great trade. My man Al Oliver won 2/3 of the Triple Crown the year after the Rangers traded him. Still got a nice return with LP.
I really liked Astacio, great arm wiggle while staring in at the sign.

Josh Hamilton was on a team that scored 901 runs last year
but couldn’t finish above .500.
Speaking of collective talent that underachieved, has there ever been a team with more career wins from it’s pitching staff than the ’89 Texas Rangers?
Ryan (324), Witt (142), KBrown (211), Hough (216), Moyer (252) and a young kid named Rogers (219) in the bully.
1364 career wins from 6 pitchers and that team won 83 games.

Still have to have pitching.
What won 89 games in 2004 was a bullpen that had a super year.
Check out these era+ for the bullpen:
Cordero – 237
Almanzar – 136
Mayhay – 198
FX2 – 152
Shouse – 226
That’s what won 89 games.
