Prized A's pitching prospect Michael Ynoa, a right-hander who signed a $4.25-million signing bonus as a 16-year-old last July, had an MRI this week after experiencing soreness in his throwing elbow.

"We're in the process of determining how severe it is," Forst said.

Hate to see this happen with such a promising arm, but such is the risk you take when dealing with a 16 year old pitcher.

This reminds me of the time...

I was playing my older brother in a hockey video game and injured Pavel Bure for the remainder of the season. My obvious reaction was “YESSS!”… I then receieved the beating of a lifetime because “you never, ever wish for someone to get injured!”

This is what happens when 16-year-olds throw 95 MPH.

The growth plates in and around the elbow are open and too maleable to handle the loads required to create such velocity. These growth plates typically close around the age of 19.

I worry about Martin Perez the same way. He doesn’t throw quite as hard at Ynoa, so that’s a plus right now.

I have to admit, this makes me smile a bit.

That’s bad, I know.

If you can't watch Holland and see that he's going to be awesome, you probably shouldn’t be watching baseball. - Section 339

Hopefully, at his next rehab session, his arms flys off clean off his shoulder and decapitates Lord Beaneleroy in a tragically appropriate accident
