Mike Maddux on what he's say to Free Agent pitchers:
"I would say, ‘You want to win?’ " Maddux said. "That’s what it’s all about. If you want to pitch numbers, go pitch at Petco. It’s as simple as that. Come here if you want to win."
Kind of calling out Jake Peavy there
Come on Jake. Prove that you’re a winner. Say yes to coming to Texas.
By 2028, Mark Teixeira will be in the HOF.

it'd be sweet if we could convince him

this is where I quit reading the article
With Rangers Ballpark in Arlington notorious as a hitters’ paradise, and with the Texas heat in August enough to choke a Clydesdale,
Elvis Andrus - 2009 AL Rookie of the Year
Mitch Moreland - 2009 Rangers Minor League POY
Mike Young:
Any regrets about making the position switch?
"We’re winning," Young said. "Winning solves everything."
MY, seriously, would you finally admit that Elvis is 10 times the shortstop you were? Admit that JD/Nolan/Wash made the right decision and your trade request and bitching was nothing short of being a poor teamate.
You are still acting like you are entitled to play shortstop? Really?
This is what you should have said:
“Hindsight is always 20-20. Andrus has been incredible. Our infield defense is as good as it has ever been. If I had known this would be the case, I wouldn’t have been so emotional about being moved. Our team has had a rough decade and I have been here for most of it. I had just won a Gold Glove at the position and I didn’t understand why I was being moved for a 20 year old that never played above AA. My emotions got the best of me. I don’t apologize for my competitiveness but I wish things were handled differently. In hindsight, I don’t know how anyone could criticize the infield adjustments.”
Say it Mike and drop this lame attitude.

I find people whining
about the quotes that players make in the papers, whether its this or the 24 kids in the clubhouse or whatever to be incredibly tiresome.
I’m just happy that he has been productive offensively so far this year.
"He (Padilla) shouldve gone back to Venezuela and watched on his Direct TV waiting to find out who his new team would be!!. ." - crops.mlblogs.com
This is close to what I wanted to say...
…so I guess if the Rangers were a couple games below .500 and Andrus was still the defensive whiz he’s been so far this year that wouldn’t be enough for MY to admit that it was the right move.
I have no objection to man walking on the moon.
