Right back where it should be.
Heres a look at the next 6 opponents.
Angels:
@ Tampa – Shields/TBA/Price
vs SD
@ SF
vs LAD
vs Colorado
@ Arizona
Rangers:
vs Toronto (4 games, no halladay)
vs LAD
vs Houston
@ SF
@ Arizona
vs SD
fairly equal. we get a couple solid teams but at least its at home.. then a nice easier stretch.
after those 6 series its back to RBiA for a Angels/Rangers showdown to conclude May.
the preceding post was a great success.
I like that we get 6 games against the Angels in Arlington...
…before our first series in Anaheim.
It would be nice to take a 5+ game lead to Anaheim and have them really feeling some pressure.
Agreed
We just need to keep putting the pressure on them the rest of the season. We just came through a tough 6 game stretch and they are not any closer to us than they were before the road trip.

would be nice to take 2 against the dodgers
and complete the sweep of the stros
Omar Vizquel: your starting shortstop for the 2009 AL all-star team.
I did like what Grieve said
a few weeks ago. Play .500 ball on the road, .667 at home. This is exactly what the Rangers are doing.
it's pretty
it’s so pretty!!!

Quoting that movie is sinful.
Because it had Rosie Perez in it.

Frogs and Rangers win
Great Game I wanted a .500 road trip and thats what I got. I like what we did, I think we leave NYY and BOS thinking that this isnt the old Rangers but is rather a team that is going to keep winning, a team that will be tough if they can add a arm or two, maybe a bat.
Dissapointed mightily by Dutch. Its growing pains, but he needs some bullpen help right now, not rotation. Matt Harrison can do his thing, I believe in his ability. Im sure Padilla will sleep wrong on his kneck and will be out two weeks at some point and Dutch can take his two starts.
Hopefully good news is coming on J Ham.
Make that either 8-2 or 7-3 in the home stand(10 games, 4 Vs TOR, 3 Vs LAD, 3 Vs Hou)
I think that is both hopefull and honestly possible.
Total Attendence for Homestand= 352,980 (Avg of 35,298 per game)
How bout them Horned Frogs… Great to see a friend Paul Gerrish do well… Hopefully Tyler Lockwood, who btw was TCU’s #1 pitcher for most of the year, does what he does best tomorow… Keep UT’s hitters off balance, and off the plane to Omaha.
This is our year.

Im thinking the Rangers can go
3-1 vs. the blue jays, 1-2 vs. the dodgers, sweep the stros.
Very nice...
a tough 3-3 road trip and the Rangers return home with that same 4.5 game lead over the Halos that they had when they left for NY.
I’m so pumped for Tuesday. My first trip to Arlington (after been a Rangers fan for 17 years) and the team is in first place. Sweet.

Should be a good time
I’m thinking whether I should make a second trip to Arlington to see, for the first time in person, the first place mother f’n Rangers. Or maybe I should wait until, oh, I don’t know, October?
Remember Red, hope is a good thing. Maybe the best of things. And no good thing ever dies.
OT - but I like the Vizquel signing more and more
A vet that can step in whenever to spell Andrus without being rusty and still making nice plays at short? Speaking of which, those “In Their Own Words” will feature those two. Anyone know if that will show up on the internet since I don’t have Fox Sports SW?

listened to the past 2 podcasts on the plane back from DC
AJM, one request, no more singing please. Thank you.
Other than that, great stuff as usual…

Poor Dan Haren
last time out: 7 ip, 1 run, leaves up 5 runs.
bullpen blows the game.

prediction
bound to go wrong.
The Rangers clinch the AL West with a victory over the Angels in Anahiem on Oct. 1. That will put them 4 up on the Angels and make the 3 game series in Seattle meaningless.

Someone in the clubhouse needs to make a statement about the lousy strike zones
the bias is pretty flagrant against our pitchers. I would like to see Washington make some noise either on the field or behind closed doors. It has become almost routine to see pitchers like Wilson paint the corners on the tracker in the 9th and get none called at all.

We played the Yankees and Red Sox this week
Honestly, did you expect anything better from the umps in those two series?

a straight up called game?
i dont think thats too much to ask. if i wanted to watch a sham of a league favor stars and historically successful teams to the detriment of the sport id be watching the NBA…
mormons stole me and held me against my will with Oklahoma beer and 12+ hour work days.
You're totally right
I’m done with Basketball because of that.
The strike zone looked like it was moving
for both teams. I’m curious if fangraphs shows bias for that game if you look at both teams.
I still have no idea why they don’t start going ot machines calling balls and strikes.

I like the umpires calling
it, call me old fashioned or whatever. I kind of enjoy it, even though it can be extremely maddening at times. And I really don’t have an argument as to why I like, I just do
I just don't believe
umpires do a particularly good job of it. I’m not sure the human eye is up to it.

OT: Sunday Night Baseball
Morgan mentioned the Dodgers trading Juan Pierre for Starting Pitcher when Manny comes back. This came-up more than once tonight.
“There’s not many lifetime .300 hitters who can steal and all the rest in baseball out there,” Morgan said. For the record, I actually like watching Pierre play baseball. But, as many know here, Pierre is a SABR nightmare, plus his arm sucks, plus he’s $9 million a year. What decent SP are the Dodgers getting for that? Am I wrong?
The incredible minds over at Crops are way ahead of the curve on this one
Maybe the Giants would fork over Madison Bumgardner.

Pierre
Interesting. And he was hitting better in Mid-May. The Dodgers would be fortunate to move him at all, I think. In this economy?
Uh yeah, that's kind of the point
Sorry if I confused ya, I don’t know you weren’t in on the Crops on the Farm joke.

I laughed.
Wish it would have been longer and showed more.

I'd said I'd be content with a 2-4 road trip... a 3-3 road trip is a lot nicer, though.
It makes me feel better that we can play .500 against the teams we’re fighting with for the best record in the AL instead of beating up on Houston, Oakland, Seattle, etc. and then wilting in Fenway.
Of course, this also makes the two sweeps in Detroit all the more frustrating.
Really wanting to take my 1 month old to
see the 1st place Rangers. He knows no different than 1st place. Hopefully, that is all he will know for a long, long while.
