Front Page Ranger Story on FoxSports.com
Jon Paul Morosi has a story up on foxsports.com on the First Place Texas Rangers. AJM didn't link it in his morning things so i thought if some do not frequent that site, you might want to take a look. It is a faily straight forward piece but at the least is getting the Rangers some national pub. Morosi has the opinion that most of us here to in that the Rangers are for real and they have a truely legitimate shot of taking down the mediocre AL West. Talks about the much improved defense and its aid on the pitching staff, also with some stats showing that our starters are doing a better job this year. He also points out that the Angels still pose as a threat, especially if they can continut to get healthy, which most of us hear would also agree with. It's a nice piece that even made it on the front page of foxsports.com until it got bumped for today's draft write up. It is now on the front page of their MLB section. Enjoy!

The mediocre west
Will people stop calling it that? Texas would be first in the Central, and LAA and Seattle would be 2nd. The A’s 4th. The AL Central is by far the worst division in the AL.
The West isn’t great, by any means (whereas the AL East is historically great, 4 of the 5 teams would be contenders in the other division). But it isn’t awful either. People need to stop marginalizing what the Rangers have done so far.

I'd have much less faith
in the Rangers making the playoffs if they had to play Detroit more.

AL West vs AL East this year
36-30….with the Rangers the only team with a losing record at 9-11. Not exactly what I would call “mediocre.”

Al West vs AL Central this year.
Every west team except Seattle has a losing record against the Central this year.

So this would make the West, again medicore according to rangerfaninva's logic.
West has beaten the East, but lost to the central? That was not the logic used in calling the West mediocre. All divisions are fairly close with the AL East stepping out in front of the other two, but again, the West and Central are pretty even, possibly a step up to the West. But again, being mediocre isn’t the worst thing to be. But calling the West a “tough” division or a “difficult” division would be stupid in my opinion.

If you read what i said, "worst division" is found no where up there.
The west isn’t great, by any means
I am pretty sure that is what mediocre means. Not the best, but also not the worst. I see the West and Central as pretty much a similar division. I am not taking away anything that the Rangers have done. Its special. Hovering around the best record in the AL is far from just leading a “crappy” division.

It's not really you I'm talking about
mostly the general consensus in baseball that the AL West is the worst division in baseball.

I'd be really hard pressed to say we're better than the Tigers right now.
And certainly I’d pick any of the big 3 AL East teams as the favorites if they were in the AL West.
I get what you’re saying though. Really the Central is pretty mediocre, too.
The AL East is where all the power is right now.
Anytime the best three teams in the league are in one division the other two divisions are gonna look kinda wimpy by camparison.
