What was cruz talking about with the dominican? I didn't understand him.
the preceding post was a great success.
Sunday games
Are like a holiday, a festival. He was saying the news about AllStar selection and winning tonight made him feel like a Dominican Sunday game – like joy!

Good stuff
That 2nd out in the 9th by Rowand? The stuff of no-hitters. Great to watch.
kling klang king of the rim ram room
That's pretty cool
Not only does he have the good fortune to spin a no-no in the bigs, but his dad is there to watch it.
For anybody whose baseball career had their dad in it, even if just as a Little League coach, that’s awesome to see.

Check out that stat. 1.63 ERA for the starters last 4 games.
See what happens when Wonderboy is in the ’pen?
Yep. Not only is the number lower for his not being in the rotation...
…but the starters have extra incentive to pitch better and longer.
GODDAMN IT.

Anyone see Ichiro making fun of Jr. for running out of gas going from 1st to home?
Maybe he was a little self concious running in from third a few innings later?

Why not? Bad performance today but their offense is incredible and they've got a few good starters
+ a closer.
Struggling with middle relief isn’t going to blow that up.
the preceding post was a great success.
Just shows why they're not the Yankees of old
During the 96-00 run, they had outstanding middle relief. But then, the Steinbrenners decided they’d rather spend money and focus “name” players instead of putting together a shutdown relief corps.
Give me Lloyd, Nelson, Mendoza, and Stanton bridging the cap to Rivera over a gaggle of washed-up 1B/DH/OF ex-stars any day.

The biggesr question is why would you have Juan Rivera on your team in the first place
Have you no principles?

This is the Rangers' 38th season.
This is the 8th latest they’ve been in 1st place.
Pretty amazing how bad the Rangers have been for so long. Good times currently though.
Gotta Love It
Can they keep it up with no additions? I say yes, but would anyone out there trade some of our prospects for a vet? I say keep the team as it is, keep our prospects, and let’s see if this very YOUNG team can’t just reach the playoffs this year. Great future either way.
posada
should have tried to hit without his bat.

Maybe a bunch of days off
is the best cure for cold streaks, rather than hitting your way out of them. So far we have seen Davis try to hit their way through cold streaks without much luck, and Murphy who sat his way out of one.
Obviously there isn’t conclusive data for sitting your way through one, but I’ll be damned if there is conclusive data that the only way out of a cold streak is to hit your way out.

The best part:
The second part of the theme is the absurdity of following the Royals. A few years ago, the Royals traded Jermaine Dye for Yuniesky-comp Neifi Perez. Now, that trade was an absolute disaster — the worst in team history in my opinion — but there was this indisputable line of reasoning. The Royals felt like they did not have a shortstop ready to play in the big leagues. This is a powerful problem: When you play baseball, you must have a shortstop … otherwise teams will laugh at you. Yes, true, they will laugh at you if you have Neifi Perez at shortstop too, but they’ll laugh at you more if you don’t have a shortstop at all.
