During the 96-00 run, they had outstanding middle relief. But then, the Steinbrenners decided they’d rather spend money and focus “name” players instead of putting together a shutdown relief corps.

This is the Rangers' 38th season.
This is the 8th latest they’ve been in 1st place.
Pretty amazing how bad the Rangers have been for so long. Good times currently though.

Can they keep it up with no additions? I say yes, but would anyone out there trade some of our prospects for a vet? I say keep the team as it is, keep our prospects, and let’s see if this very YOUNG team can’t just reach the playoffs this year. Great future either way.

Maybe a bunch of days off
is the best cure for cold streaks, rather than hitting your way out of them. So far we have seen Davis try to hit their way through cold streaks without much luck, and Murphy who sat his way out of one.
Obviously there isn’t conclusive data for sitting your way through one, but I’ll be damned if there is conclusive data that the only way out of a cold streak is to hit your way out.

The Royals felt like they did not have a shortstop ready to play in the big leagues. This is a powerful problem: When you play baseball, you must have a shortstop … otherwise teams will laugh at you. Yes, true, they will laugh at you if you have Neifi Perez at shortstop too, but they’ll laugh at you more if you don’t have a shortstop at all.
