OT - Speaker Help
I'm having problems with my speaker and I hope you guys can help me out. The sound on my computer isn't working when playing windows pinball (just to test) or going to youtube to play videos. If I put a music CD in the C drive, then the computer does play music. So 1. Sound card is working 2. Speakers are working, what can be the problem? If I go to the volume window, everything seems fine except in the far right column. The right column is the PC speaker and that's grayed out so I can't move the balance back-and-forth. I think that seems to be the problem but I can't fix it. Anyone know what I should do?

xp?
If xp, try going to: Control Panel, Sounds. Then click “Advanced”. Make sure none of the bars are all the way down.

Often times, a CD drive has a data cable and also a second, small set of wires hooked directly into the sound card.
Perhaps the driver mysteriously corrupted itself. Shit like that happens for no reason sometimes.
If you’re on XP… right-click “My Computer” and click properties, when in the set of tabs in the window that comes up, click the “hardware” tab, then click the “device manager” button. Make sure nothing in the device manager has an exclamation point next to it. It usually automatically opens up any device category that has an exclamation point next to something, but if not, you might have to click the + next to “sound, video and game controllers.” If there’s no exclamation point next to anything under “sound, video and game controllers,” make sure your sound card is actually listed there (mine says “Creative SB Live! series” but yours might say something else). You should have something listed besides “legacy audio drivers.” If you have a sound card listed and there’s no exclamation point next to it, then as far as Windows knows everything’s fine.

Just curious, is your computer a Dell?
It’s my Dad’s computer that’s messed up and I remember seeing Creative SB Live! and his is a Dell. When I get a chance, I will check it out with what you said.

I built it myself
I’ve been waiting for the rebates that were supposed to make my motherboard free for almost five years now.

I'd like to build something new and fast
But with medical bills and getting married next year, it’s kind of on the back burner now.

Figured I'd put this here
But slightly OT, has anyone else with Firefox 3.5 noticed that loading LSB seems to cause the “script on the page has been stopped due to a low memory condition” warnings that have been plaguing 3.5 users?
I know the new FF 3.5 bug is a fairly common problem, but I’m just noting that viewing LSB in FF 3.5 is becoming nigh impossible.
