Gortat to remain with Magic
Soooo.... now that Master Plan A is falling through, how do the Mavs hide Dampier's horrible skills at roughly $12 million a year?

Haha...
that would be hilarious because that’s why they didn’t have the money to re-sign Bass.

Are the Magic fucking retarded?
They’re going to pay $7 million a year for Gortat to back up Dwight Howard?

What is painful is...
Mavericks gave cash to Magic as part of sign and trade sending Hedo to TOR… Magic signs Brandon Bass, then decides to match on Gortat.
What in the world did Donnie Nelson do to piss Otis Smith off? And is Donnie completely disrepsected in this league that a fellow GM would do this?

It's not a disrespect thing -
Clearly the Magic think Gortat is worth this much. They would have matched anyone’s offer all things equal.
This just kind of blows up our plans….it’s not like we can just pocket the midlevel.
Hopefully we dont waste it on someone who becomes a burden.

Surely the Magic...
have an under the deal table to deal Gortat to someone else. Looks like the Mavs got caught with their pants down.

On the Mavs tip
Sturm has some video and news about Beaubois. Dude can shoot – sorta slippery and clever like a poor man’s Tony Parker … sorta. I was gonna actually re-claim my Mav fandom but … this Gortat news is pretty bad, eh? Dratz.

Dallas comes out of this looking really bad
With everything that midlevels did for teams this offseason, they came up completely empty at a time when they are trying to win a championship. I’m not necessarily saying that they did the wrong thing, but the result is pretty terrible. Oh well.

maybe not the full MLE...
But leon powe coming off knee surgery could be had for a 2 or 3 year deal at a bargin. more skills than bass at PF and already as much playoff exp.

Powe will probably want to sign a 1 year deal, prove his health
and go back into free agency next year. Maybe a 2-year deal with a player option, but i’m definitely interested in him.

My first thought when I heard the gut punch.
