C.J. makes Deadspin...
http://deadspin.com/5316174/do-not-make-cj-wilson-your-espy-wingman
Texas Rangers reliever C.J. Wilson was at the ESPYs for some reason, but since he wasn't nominated for anything (one would assume) he decided to spend the evening busting horny dudes with his Twitter—including a certain noted sportscaster-lothario.
His last update from the ceremony:
I've seen 30 different dudes try flirting with the trophy girls, making trophy wives? hahaha
Come on, guy! Flirting with award show trophy girls is the only moment of fun most of these fellas get in a year. (Besides playing children's games for million-dollar salaries, of course.) Why do you gotta call them out on interweb blog sites? That's not being very "bro-like." But one guest in particular received special attention from Wilson.

Those messages were later deleted from Wilson's feed, but helpfully preserved by this website that refuses to let your most embarrassing online moments die a noble death. If you can't even make small talk with a statuesque statue holder without getting called on it, then what's the point of being a superstar?

I figured
CJ made meatspin

Evan Grant
probably cried himself to sleep because he didn’t get this on his blog first. He luvs him some CJ twitter stories.

some people just love any time he does something that draws this kind of attention

Who gives a crap
In the digital age at a public event shit gets made public. I for one would be laughing at chris berman trying to hit on a chick too., he should have yelled “you’re with me leather”

I didn't see any indication...
in the post that he hasn’t made deadspin before.

Just another way for CJ to say
“Hey everybody, look at me!!! C’mon LOOK AT ME!!!”
There's more to the picture than meets the eye.

If you were a ball player...
would you cease your existence on the Internet?
When I look at it, what Ceej does seems less attention grabbing and more just utilizing the same crap we use on the Internet only he happens to do it while also being a major league baseball player. Perhaps these Internet utilities are designed to be attention grabbing, but it’s no different for Ceej than it is for us.

I think in this case
he was actually saying “Hey everybody, look at Chris Berman being a douche!” not “hey look at me!”

flirting with attractive women = being a douche ?
or, is tagging along to an event and tweeting to the world that famous men with a lot of money flirt with attractive women = being a douche?

that doesn't really answer his question

fair enough
i’ll ask the fairly obvious implied question – how does making fun of someone else hitting on girls = “look at me, look at me.”

It's just Ceej's personality rubbing people the wrong way that think he should grab his lunch pail, do his job, and shut up...
if he had Tweeted: “I was totally macking on some honeys at the ESPYS! They knew I was famous with a lot of money so they were all up on it!” he’d just be a douche for hitting on ladies at the ESPYS and telling people about it.
To some people doing the same shit we do online every day isn’t acceptable because he is a baseball player. I think what is perceived as “being a douche” is just having a personality outside of just being the stoic ball player persona from the 1950s.

So it's OK
for you to go online and criticize someone for saying something online.
But, it’s not OK for CJ to do the same?

well CJ didn't call him a douche
so I don’t really see the problem in what CJ posted. And he also retracts the statement and puts it into funny context.
The only “look at me” aspect of this is that he posts on twitter – but then 10M (probably more) people are guilty of being look at me.

…Chris Berman is one of the largest douches I can think of.

he’d still be a douche.

I don't think...
he’s that strange. hurlerhurley is strange. Josey Wales is kind of strange. CJ is just a young guy who makes a pretty good living who makes some questionable decisions sometimes. I mean, outside of DFW, he’s pretty obscure.

i don't get what is strange about what he's doing
he is using his access to make fun of celebrities. do you know how many websites on the internet do exclusively that?

but I have no problem with this. I would do the same thing if I saw Berman trying to pick up chicks. It’s funny…

Nope
That’s awesome. Berman is a huge douche, as is anyone who has a problem with CJ putting that on Twitter.

hmmm, makng fun of someone on the internet who was making fun of someone else on the internet
irony?
Berman is a huge douche. I think people criticize CJ because he is too normal/open. They want him to be something that he is not.

like twitter and face book/myspace arent like that in general?
the whole social networking thing is all one big look at me, so how is he any different than anyone else who uses it.

I refuse to get sucked into the whole twitting/facebook/myspace phenom, but it's not like there aren't
millions of people doing so. I have about a dozen invites from my normal friends to join so I think it is hardly outside the norm anymore.
