Minors - 07/18
Nobody really exciting taking the bump today. I wish Feliz was still starting, because the only starters I'll stop down for these days are Perez, Font and Ross.
Bad night for Boscan, as he put up an ugly line of 4/7/4/3/1/2. Jefry Marte made his 35th error in 92 games this year, but Leury Garcia said "You ain't seen shit son" and made his 20th error in 43 games.
What happened to Beltre? Not in the lineup again.
Kiker put up a pretty strong line: 7/5/3/3/2/5. Strop pitched the final 2, giving up 2 hits (no runs) and striking out 2. Moreland went 2/5.
Davis with a homer, double and a K in 4 PAs so far. Moscoso: 6/6/3/1/1/9...2:7 GB:FB ratio though. Smoak's 0-3 and Borbon's 1-4.

Kiker and
Moscoso are not at all interesting to you?

I'm not particularly excited about either one, no.

To clarify.
It’s not that I don’t think they’re poor prospects, I’m just not uber-excited by anyone aside from Perez and Ross this year.
Fuck, and Font. I forgot Wilmer.

I know what you mean, but Kiker has lately turned it on and is starting to dominate some games
Really looking forward to see what he does tonight.

yeah
another boring year on the prospect front…

Again, that's not what I mean.
It’s a personal observation. I’m finding myself paying close attention to starters (checking boxes with regularity or listening to games) only when Ross, Perez and Font are pitching.

Ross, Perez, and Font are just so sexy
It’s like losing some of your interest in the really hot sorority girls at your college when Adriana Lima, Marisa Miller, and Mila Kunis suddenly appear. Kiker is hot, but he’s no Adriana Lima.
And yes, I just compared three young pitchers to three of the hottest women alive.

Good point
I’ll let you decide which one is Martin, which one is Wilmer, and which one is Robbie:

Kiker thru 3
4H, 2R, 2ER, 1BB, 4K
Oh yeah, you know he has hit a guy also.

Is that 1 BB AND a HBP
or is the HBP the 1 walk?
Bryan Smith (12:17:17 PM PT): Justin Smoak and Josh Hamilton. The AL West might just have found their Bash Brothers, v. 2.0.

HBP's do not count as walks
he has 1 BB and he has hit one batter

After 6 for Kiker
5H, 3R, 3ER, 2BB, 5K
a decent start, not sure if he is done (85 pitches).

Pretty solid 6 inning outing right there
Looks like he’s getting much better at balancing the walks with the Ks.

Well it looks like he ended up going 7
with the same line as above.
Kenny Baugh was pitching for Corpus Christi. Blast from the past there. I thought he was out of baseball.

Fabio Castillo, 6'1" 235 lbs
Checking his stats tonight, and damn, I didn’t realize he was that big.
Also, with the way Feliz, Moscoso, AJ Murray and Madrigal are pitching there is no reason to make a trade to acquire bullpen help for the ML club. In fact, it might make some sense to trade away a bullpen arm to clear room for a couple of the above.
There's more to the picture than meets the eye.

Agreed, just doesn't make much sense considering the bullpen has been one of our strongest pieces this year
In fact, earlier today I pondered whether it would be a good idea to explore deals packaging Blalock + a reliever for a 1B/DH upgrade.

Add in the fact
that the ML bullpen is going pretty well right now and it really makes no sense to trade for a relief arm.

Looked solid
One very bad inning, but he was consistently 92-94 with good command. Sat at 94 in the sixth.

How were Moscoso's secondary pitches?
Do you think that he is a starter or reliever in the big leagues?
by spurdynasty on Jul 18, 2009 10:27 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
I'm assuming the slider
is his 2nd breaking ball? Seen any splitters from him of late? He was reported to be throwing them in April but was then reported to have ditched it to focus on the change. What say you?
