OT: The British Open
Dont know who else is watching it, or who everyone (anyone?) is pulling for but got Tom Watson!
Right now Watson, Westwood and Wood are all tied at 2 under
Paul Lowrie had a 2 (Albatross) on a par 5 today
Ross Fisher had a quadruple bogey on the fifth to go from the leader by 2 shots (-4) to 7th place on the fifth hole
One way or another, go Tom Watson...they love him there and I dont know if there is anyone I have pulled for more in a golf tournament...

watson just misses another birdie at the sixth
Scout: He was a first-round pick right? Got a huge bonus?
KG: Oh yeah.
Scout: Well, he spent a lot of it on milkshakes.

westood makes eagle at 7
puts him up by 2…should be interesting to see if he can keep it up
watson back by 2 and 4-5 guys back by 3

Eagle would be nice for Watson here
but he just needs to 2 putt. If he can take this birdie and play at minus 1 or 2 on out he should take it. I say winner shoots -4 or -5. Go Watson
idk if its going to get much higher than -2 or -3
but one way or another, should be interesting!

i would think that now he supports contador
he didnt look too hot at the end today (after contador took off) — but the versus guys were talking about hwo he still did well to be 37 and away from the sport for 3+ years
i think it should be interesting to see what happens over the next 2 days, if lance makes a charge or no…

Me too
Because I can relate to it. Watson’s showing was really remarkable though. I think knowing the course really helped him.

lets go tom
if you have the bbc (the real bbc, not bbc america) their coverage is awesome compared to abc, might have3 changed cuz the playoff, but they earlier had very little nonessential commentary, lots of the sounds of golf, crowd, etc
check the first link on atdhe if you want to watch it

back to TdF
“The differences now are pretty big, and the team’s bet should now be me, no?” Contador said. “I’m sure my teammates are going to put in great work to back me up just like they did today.”

Mount Ventoux - penultimate stage this year
IIRC, Armstrong has never won on MV, and I think from stuff I’ve read that that really eats at him. I’m wondering if Armstrong will position himself far enough in arrears of Contador that he can attack on Mount Ventoux without scaring up a response from the leaders and possibly win a stage he really wants to win. Just pondering …
doesnt look good for tom

Not even close
Van De Velde’s was MUCH worse. He had a bigger lead going to the 18th. He not only hit a bad shot he totally lost his mind by trying to hit the ball out of the water. Plus, he was a man playing in his prime. Watson has choked a bit but what happened in 1999 at Carnoustie is the biggest choke job ever.

I don't believe he actually tried to hit it
out of the water. He pondered it for a few minutes, and actually got his feet wet, but decided not to do it since the water level had risen a slight bit before he could pound it out of there.

Stewart played great in the playoff
and I’m sure nobody will remember that since Watson played so poor.
