Francisco to the DL Again
The lineup card is up in the Rangers clubhouse and it includes RHP Willie Eyre in the bullpen, but no mention of RHP Frank Francisco. So far, no official word from the Rangers, but Francisco was unavailable yesterday due to flu-like systems. He hasn’t pitched since July 10, so the Rangers could place him on the DL today, retroactive to the 11th and he’d be eligible on Saturday when the team is in Kansas City.
Update:
Francisco was first bothered by flu-like symptoms on Saturday night and the situation got progressively worse on Sunday. He was unavailable to pitch in Sunday’s 5-3 12-inning win over Minnesota. He was told not to report to the ballpark on Monday. If the Rangers have a save opportunity on Monday, it’s likely they will turn to LHP C.J. Wilson, even though he threw 28 pitches in two innings of work on Sunday.

should be
but i kinda doubt it.
why does willie eyre keep getting chance after chance with this team? he is a spare when he is healthy, and that is not often
I don't get it either..
Are we so afraid he’s going elsewhere and pull an O’Day??

This is a simple decision
Eyre is on options
Feliz would require a 40 man move and unless you planned on keeping him up here for good I don’t think you want to yo-yo him between OKC and here.
Lot of overreaction going on right now
Bryan Smith (12:17:17 PM PT): Justin Smoak and Josh Hamilton. The AL West might just have found their Bash Brothers, v. 2.0.
well if the 40 move is what is holding feliz back,
then would you have a problem with dropping eyre from the 40 to make room for feliz? i wouldn’t
He wouldn't be my first choice
But overall no I wouldn’t mind. But if we dropped Eyre to bring Feliz up for 4 days then I would be pissed. Feliz is the type of prospect who once up shouldn’t go back down unless his performance absolutely demands it

well i don't want to send him down
I think this is a very important stretch for the rangers right now with the mariners and angels both being hot. I think the rangers need feliz in the back end of the bullpen right now
If they are almost ready to bring him up...
Then I’d do it now, unless this IS just a 3-4 day visit by Eyre. Wish we knew more about Fx2.

I understand why he gets the nod since he's on the 40...
I just don’t get why he’s still on the 40.

This is NOT
what I want to read at the start of a Red Sox series.

Per TR
Francisco is sidelined with what is being termed as a mild case of pneumonia.
Also, CJ to close. They took Eyre over Feliz because Eyre can pitch multiple innings.

Is it because you don't want to send him back down?
Because that’s a ridiculous concept. He can help now – bring him up. When Frankie’s healthy, send him back down to work regularly. Why do we have to coddle so?
It isn't coddling
It isn’t that you want to burn an option on him and use a 40 man roster spot on him so he can be here for 4 days.

Nolan Ryan doesn't coddle.

It would seem the closers role has turned into a bit of a jinx the past few years
