Stolen base trivia
I noticed today on the box score that Kinsler and Cruz are both probably going to end up with 20+ steals. So is Andrus.
When was the last time the Rangers had 3 guys with 20+ steals in the same season? And who were the 3 guys?

Nope...
In 2002 Michael Young hit .262 with a .308 OBP at age 25. 25 year old players are what they are, you can not expect any improvement out of them, that’s why Frankie the Cat should be the Rangers starting 2B.
Just ask AJM, he’ll tell you all about it.
AJM..
It’s fun giving you shit when you’re wrong, especially about something you were so adamant about, even if it is 7 years later. No disrespect meant.
Wasn't somebody here critical
of the Rangers not giving up a draft pick to sign Juan Cruz (6.31 ERA) this year? Wouldn’t that have been the Tanner Scheppers pick?
Scheppers was a Supplemental guy...
Don’t think you can lose those picks, can you?
Either way, yeah a lot of people were critical about not chasing Cruz…
AJM wanted him pretty bad in the offseason/spring
And it sounded like a pretty good idea, until the season started and Cruz proved why relief pitchers are such a volatile commodity.

from TR
The Rangers are talking to the Blue Jays about Halladay and they have asked the Indians about Lee. The Rangers have a deep and attractive farm system but financial considerations may make any deal tough. The Rangers are unlikely to take on a significant salary in any deal.
This is not the year to bet the farm. And that is what it would take to get Halladay or Lee and have thier current team pick up thier salary. The window is not opened yet, it is unlocked, but not opened. The Phillies should be all in fior Halladay. The Dodgers for Lee and VMart should also trade the farm.
Elvis Andrus - 2009 AL Rookie of the Year
Mitch Moreland - 2009 Rangers Minor League POY
agreed
If I were in the Phillies shoes, I’d do what it takes to make it happen. You’d have a legit shot at 3 world series. Who cares if you suck in five years if you get three titles?

would you do the deal if...
you were guaranteed to sign halladay past 2010? I know this is not likely at all, but just wondering.
The thing with that deal is...
The point of doing a deal for Halladay or Lee is to make the MLB club better right now. So not even talking about what the prospects we’d be sending off would mean to the future, if you’re trying to make the MLB club better right now, you don’t want to get rid of Feldman. Feldman has been one of the best pitchers in the rotation. You would want to add to Feldman, not replace Feldman. The pitcher would need to be twice as good as Feldman to make it work and while there are plenty of pitchers that are better, there aren’t any that are twice as good.
If you had Smoak, Perez and Holland for Halladay and Feliz, Beavan and Boscan for Lee, even though you’d be putting a serious dent in the future, at least you could say that’s making the team a lot better RIGHT NOW, since the team with Halladay, Lee and Feldman is better than the team with just Halladay and Lee.
I'm tempted to offer
Feliz straight up for Lee and dare the Indians to say no.

Kanye, you want to be the voice of this generation? Get in line! It goes me, Obamagirl, the Freecreditreport.com guys, then It's a tie between you-and Crocs.

Not only pass...but fucking pass
why do some on here want to jump off the boat and decide to butt fuck the shit out of our future?
im still waiting to hear the answer to that
because if the rangers intend on contending in 2010 or 2011
you can not expect feliz, holland or any other prospect to anchor the staff. People don’t become aces within their first few years in the league. At some point you have to go for it. Not saying that time is now, but this is the reason that I am not opposed to making our top 4 unavailable.
especially when
we pretty much have to use some prospects in trade by 2010 rule 5, or lose some.

It can happen if they are special enough...
Go check out guys like Fernando Valenzuela. Great ace right off the bat.

who are the possibilities next year?
say we’re in this position next year but a few games up instead, with more financial flexibility, still needing a true ace – any names we should be looking out for?

Dammit.
I didn’t know they played a day game today. Missed a win that I easily could’ve watched.
Read ‘Sunday Morning Things’.
Adam, the Angels are red hot right now. At some point they’re going to cool off. You know the old, old saying…you’re never as good as you look in a win streak and never as bad as you look during a losing streak? I think the Rangers are what they have been lately…will win more than they lose. I don’t think it’s time to stick a fork into anything. I wouldn’t give up much to get help or anything, but saying they’re done when it’s not even August is a little premature.
Totally missed the game
So… Millwood strained his ass again?

Jays reject Phils’ latest offer
Halladay for J.A. Happ, Carlos Carrasco, Michael Taylor and some spare named Jason Donald
I’d reject that too
decent package
of young players. jason donald was just randomly thrown in there though, unless he is omar vizquel with the glove.

Yeah
I’d be pretty deflated if I were a Jays fan and that’s what they wind up with. Donald is fairly well regarded, not a spare necessarily, but I don’t think he’s going to be a true SS, and he’s certainly not a stud defensively like you would think they’d want if they added a SS via Halladay. As a fourth player in a deal, though, he’s not a bad guy to get, his poor 2009 aside.

Also, Rick Porcello goes only 5.1 IP tonight...
Tiger bullpen will be a little worked going into tomorrow’s game.
A situation our offense will no doubt rectify.
