It was reported today that the Rangers plan on adding another position player to the 25 man roster prior to Monday's game.
Chris Davis, who went 2 for 4 today for Oklahoma, bringing his line in AAA to .347/.400/.627, with just 14 Ks in 75 ABs, was pulled late in the Redhawks' game.
Coincidence?
Or is Davis coming back to Arlington?

He has
certainly earned it, if indeed he is called up.

not sure who they should move
other than andrew jones, and they wanna add position players. eddie has settled down.
millwood, padilla, feldman, holland, wilson, oday, grilli are all staying
mathis, hunter and nippert certainly deserve to stay on. eddie has been better, grilli is fine. jennings is ok.
eyre just now got back…

Eyre would be the one to send down
Elvis Andrus - 2009 AL Rookie of the Year
Mitch Moreland - 2009 Rangers Minor League POY
Eyre was the one called back up when we needed an extra arm
And he’ll likely be the one sent down when we don’t.
If he is coming back
I guess this means Jones hopefully plays less.
"After intense analysis, I have come to the conclusion that Neftali Feliz throws fucking hard." - John Sickels
did you see Evan G's post in the InsiderCorne Gameday thread about Jones being
a +3 in win/losses this season? I nearly threw a bombshell in there and called him out. The three HR game he had was in a blowout win against LAA, his HR today was not a factor in today’s game. And all his 0 for 4’s this year have assuredly played plenty a role in losses this yea…
"The House That Ruth Built, 85 years old, goes out as The House That Hamilton Knocked Down"
Yeah, according to WAR he's a 1.0 win player
Some other 1 win players this year? Melky Cabrera, Juan Uribe, Johnny Gomes, Nick Green, Endy Chavez and Gerald Lard.
I dunno where Evan could’ve possibly pulled +3 wins from. That makes no sense.

"only" 14 Ks in 75 ABs
Soft bigotry of low expectations…
(sorry, I had to say something snide)
Go Rice Owls!
That's about on pace for what, 120 Ks over a season?
I’d take that instead of 300

I was at the OKC game today
Davis seemed to be a little gimpy running to 1st in his last at bat. The first base coach went over & talked with him afterwards (it was the end of the inning) & they were looking at his lower leg. It didn’t appear serious, but Davis was pulled after that. I think it was just precaution since they were up big.

So this was on Yahoo earlier
• Tampa Bay has been aggressive in its pursuit of Cliff Lee(notes). The Rays are trying to involve the Texas Rangers as a third team in the deal, with the Indians getting top Rays pitching prospect Wade Davis(notes) and at least one young arm from the Rangers. The Rays also almost certainly will move Andy Sonnanstine(notes), perhaps to a team looking for bullpen help. The Rays also have shown considerable interest in Toronto reliever Jason Frasor, as has Detroit.
• The Rangers, meanwhile, have shown some interest in Tampa Bay’s Scott Kazmir(notes), but apparently not if it would cost them left-hander Derek Holland(notes). The Rangers’ need for another pitcher became more acute after the news that left-hander Matt Harrison(notes) needs shoulder surgery and is out for the season. The Dodgers may also make a run at Kazmir.
So the Rays want us to pitch in one of our young arms (probably more like a Beaven, Kiker, Poveda or such) in order for them to get Cliff Lee, while we in return could get Scott Kazmir. Kazmir could come much cheaper than Doc or Lee, but he has more concerns this season due to injuries than the other two. So, if your JD, would ya?

Is he injured or is it something else because it looks like he hasnt pitched since June??

meh..never been a fan of his.
When there was talk of him or Edwin in the off-season I was hoping to get Edwin. Really wish we did now….heh.
Yes I think I would
If it costs us one of our second tier prospects I would roll the dice on Kazmir. If we straighten him out he’s a potential #1.
What do voluntary mean?
I don't see TB trading Kazmir
unless they get a solid offer. A solid offer doesn’t consist of 2nd tier guys like Beaven and Harrison.
I think Cliff Lee
is a pretty solid offer…referring to the 3-team trade

For one
I’d love to see what Mike Maddux would do with Kazmir, but I’m not sure this could happen.

heh
it’d be awesome if kazmir ended up on the flip side of a “give me 20 min with the guy” trade

Same here
I’m hesitant to do this deal, and I’m not SK’s biggest fan. That said, as someone else previously posted, I reserve the right to piss myself in happiness if we do decide to do this.

No on Kazmir
I fear he is an arm injury just waiting to happen-he hasn’t been right since middle of last year, IIRC. And no to Sonnanstine-soft-tossing lefty who is sick and in AAA. Sounds like TB is trying to offload some defective merchandise, and figures the good ol’ Rangers can be fooled into taking it, because you know, the Rangers can really hit. They just need to get some pitching in here…
Never argue with a fool. Onlookers might not be able to tell you apart.
Sonnanstine is not a soft-tossing lefty

ok, not soft-tossing
I kind of had another guy in my head when I wrote that, but isn’t he a mid to back-end of the rotation kind of guy? What would you give up to get him might be a better question?

He actually is a soft-tosser (career average of 87 on his fastball)
But he’s right-handed. ;)
The thing about Sonnastine is his command – 1.89 career BB/9 – that’s what makes him valuable, despite his unimpressive fastball and strikeout rates. Numbers-wise he’s basically the pitcher everyone thinks Scott Feldman is.

I love pitchers like Sonnanstine
I could watch him and Kevin Slowey pitch for days at a time. He’s looked good in Durham so far, if we can get him at the deadline, I think it’d be a coup.

When have we ever known
the Rays to move players at anything other than peak value? It’s not that FO’s MO.
IMHO, if they’re willing to move someone, that’s the final nail in their injury coffin.

I don't know much about their trade history
other than the original kazmir trade.
he may be hurt. and he may be beyond repair. but if it costs a Beavan and another prospect to find out, I’d roll the dice. Doesn’t he have to pass a physical before the trade is finalized?

maybe he's coming back BECAUSE of the way HAnk's been playing
