Farm Help?

Assuming we don't get anybody at the trade deadline, what do we have internally that could conceivably help? Feliz seems obvious but what about anybody else: Benson? Strop? Boggs? Ramirez?

Is there any reason to believe we could be competitive this year with what we have (I guess with what is left after swine flu and rib removal, let alone glute problems)?

Can we realistically win the West with what is available up and down the minors?

Batter hope the help from within REALLY helps.

Because the Mariners just got better with Wilson and Snell and the Angels aren’t going away.

With the money problems JD confirmed, I don’t feel we will pay the price in prospects to try and win this year.

How in the world are the Mariners going to cost the Rangers a playoff spot?

They’d have to make up like six on Texas as well as eight on the Angels or seven on Boston. If the Mariners blow by everyone, I don’t think that a deadline addition would have made much difference for the Rangers.

I think it depends on what the Angels do

Between the Angels and Rangers ‘roster, I like the Rangers better over the long haul. One thing I’ve learned is never bet against the team that wins using pitching and defense over an offensive minded club like the Angels are this year. If the Angels get Hallady or Lee, then that changes things IMO.

Benson, no.

I’d say Boggs and Borbon in the OF. German/Arias and Davis in the IF. Sadly MaxRam may not be an option given his health and production this year in OKC.

Pitching wise I’d say we have seen most of the starter options. Guys like Nippert, Moscoso, and Mathis. For the ‘pen there is Feliz, Eyre, Madrigal, and Pirate. If guys like Mendoza and Rupe become necessary I don’t like the Rangers chances. I think Feliz and Madrigal could be huge for this staff in August and September given the chance.

I still think this team is going to have a hard time winning the West though with their current offense. I hope I’m wrong. Nothing would make me happier.
