I heard...

…that an enraged cinderblock wall threw itself at Poveda, and he protected himself with his clinched fist. But that’s not confirmed.

Who ticked off Joe Wieland?

5 K’s in a row. 6 up, 6 down thru 2 IP. Sitting 91 on the gun so far.

Damn he's a flyball pitcher.

That won’t play well in Arlington. ;) 7K’s/9 batters = happy baseball pants

Poorest game of his career

Wish he had been able to finish the game as well as he started.

Cankles is proving all that quick hype after he debuted last year was justified.

That Hickory rotation is freaking AWESOME.

I’m finally going up to see ‘em in a few weeks, I’m hoping Wieland is one of the guys I get to see.

indeed

but I sure wish Ramirez and Brighams’ results would start to match their potential.

Brigham's surface numbers make him look way worse than he's actually been.

The BB rate ain’t great (3.66/9), but it’s not terrible, either, and he’s been k’ing a dude an inning, which is a very important indicator, imo. Remember that control is often the last thing to come all the way back after major arm surgery.

His gb/fb has been pretty nice, as well. (43.6%/26%)

His BABIP is ridic and is making him look a lot worse than he’s actually been.

I’m actually rather content with what we’ve seen out of Brigham. He just needs to carry it forward and keep getting better, cause that .386 BABIP is gonna fall soon and he’ll start to look a lot better to all of us out here in blog land.

Namirez, however… Ugh.

Anyone notice how much Beavan has become like Tommy Hunter?

Seems consistently pounding the strike zone. Will give up a few runs, yet will give you innings.

yeah

BB needs to up his K rate

But seeing if we cant keep guys like Millwood and Padilla, McCarthy

Having Hunter and Beavan step in and be inning eaters is a good start to supplement, Hurley, Holland, Feliz, Feldman, Harrison next year.

Had awful June numbers, but over his last 3 outings … 13.0 IP, 12 hits, 4 ER’s, 2 BB’s, 13 K’s.
10-4 GO/AO over his last 2 outings. Fingers crossed hard something’s clicked for him – maybe bettering an out pitch to get righties or something.

by shroomer on Jul 4, 2009 9:35 AM CDT reply actions

Yah, if he can keep up this new 0% walk rate and .200 BABIP-thing he's got going in July I think he'll be fine.

But, in all seriousness, he did struggle in June, but that .419 BABIP would be pretty hard for anyone to overcome. Still he K’d 10+/9 and his walk rate has been trending down month to month all season.

And, hey, at least he’s been throwing real actual innings all season long.

How much would we have paid for that last year?
