Nelson Cruz needs to be parked on the bench more often, and hit low in the lineup when he’s in there.

Also clearly

we need to bench Jones to make room for others.

God forbid we bench Kinsler and Hamilton when they are sucking.

What did he say?

I would have liked to heard that interview.

Kinsler is right now making his way to my most disliked player on the team status. I expect so much more from him, and it is just so painful seeing that much suck lead off every night. If they would at least move him down in the order, it would be easier to deal with his slump.

He agreed (without being prompted)

That Kinsler was more or less swinging for the fences at every pitch. He said he didn’t think he was doing that last year, or earlier in the year when he was hot. Said he was also a pull hitter and he’s just not seeing it now.

My goodness...

is MY having himself a season or what?

Don’t hear nearly as many people bitching about his bad contact this year. I know his defense han’t been very good (and that contract is still pretty bad), but his offense returning to what is was in ‘04/’05 sure has been a pleasant surprise.

Damn does this team need to get something from Kinsler, Hamilton, and the catchers spot. Without that, the West can’t be won. Halladay or no Halladay.

Well in their defense...

I don’t think any of us saw Hamilton and Kinsler falling off like they have. Many of us thought CD would build off last year. Many of us also thought either Salty or TT would have a much better year, and most of us thought MY would continue to regress at the plate.

In a perfect world he may not have been in the top 5 (Hamilton, Kinsler, Cruz, CD, Salty) but things certainly haven’t worked out that way this year.

Bleh

I expected regression from Hamilton, Kinsler and Davis (especially Davis).

I was expecting improvement from Salty, though.

To be fair, I didn’t think that Hamilton would drop off the table like he has.

Kinsler has been a little unlucky, though (BABIP of .234/ career BABIP of .295), and he’s been serviceable.

What about unloading that contract now while we have a chance to do so? Think we could get a solid young cheap 3b for young/font/beltre or a package like that? Free up a lot of salary for deadline and/or offseason moves?

I don’t think it’ll happen because of his leadership qualities, but I wouldn’t be shocked to see him shopped this offseason.

I don’t like seeing young players who are not ready for The Show drowning, especially when it is clearly costing a team with a chance for post-season wins.

You cannot survive 162 games in the AL with a 1B who has a .256 obp.

Hopefully this year was an aberration and next year Davis makes the necessary adjustments and has a wonderful career but he was in The Show 6 weeks longer than he should have been in 2009.

Maybe it’s blasphemy to say this, but Josh Hamilton has options.

I'd have no problem

with him being sent down for 50-100 PAs.

Funny thing is

If you left him down for 3 weeks or so you could gain a full year of team control out of the deal

Bryan Smith (12:17:17 PM PT): Justin Smoak and Josh Hamilton. The AL West might just have found their Bash Brothers, v. 2.0.

Send him down.

Call Borbon up.

I like this. Improves the defense and offense in one fell swoop.

Or, atleast, the offense doesn’t get any worse..

UZR

According to UZR, Hamilton has had a UZR of 5.8 this year (UZR/150 of 16.4).

Don’t know if it’s sustainable (especially with the injury issues), but he has been pretty good according to UZR this year.

Andruw

Is the definition of a 3TO player right now. And not the Jason Botts mold of 3TO hitter, more like the Adam Dunn incarnation. The thing is, there’s no way he can maintain his current HR pace. He doesn’t have this kind of power anymore. And striking out 2-3 times a game is going to tear a giant chunk out of his ass.

Kanye, you want to be the voice of this generation? Get in line! It goes me, Obamagirl, the Freecreditreport.com guys, then It's a tie between you-and Crocs.

Andruw Jones

Is back to around his career K rate (23.5% this year, 22.3% career rate).

Last year was the anomoly (36.4% K rate).

His HR/FB rate is slightly better than his career HR/FB rate (22.7% this year, 19.5% career rate)

And it’s comparable to his HR/FB rates when he he had his good HR years.

Plus, he’s been a little unlucky (BABIP of .221 vs. career BABIP of .280).

So, I think it’s perfectly possible (especially since he plays at TBiA) for him to maintain ALL his current rates and have a higher BA to boot.

It sometimes works to trade a good player at the deadline that you don’t want to resign (the F’n sourpuss Texiera for example). But do you really trust the Rangers to trade prospects for a rent-a-veteran type player (even Halliday). They’re not going to win the WS this year period. Enough is enough – stick to the plan- no more Ron Darlings / Walt Terrell for Lee Mazzilli trades ever again. Please or I’ll barf. And I’ve been barf’n for 37 years. I’m really not joking

young has been a consisten .300 hitter his entire career hes got a shot at the batting title if he keeps it up…hell be a ranger for life, hamilton needs to work out the kinks maybe a stint in triple a? we have enough outfielders to cover well hes gone?

We have

Murphy, Byrd, Cruz, we call up Borbon or Boggs for the forth/platoon OF, and use Jones as the fifth OF.

we definitely need

for him to turn it around or we need to send him down.

Its just tough to give that many ABs to a guy who is bringing so little.
