Place your bets - Halladay
Where do you think he will end up?
Personally, I don't believe that he will go anywhere. I just don't get any sense of urgency from the Blue Jays, and I think that he would actually resign with Toronto unlike the Tex deal. I do know that JP is under a directive to cut payroll however.

I put Rangers
Weird gut feeling culminating from Hicks sometimes mealy-mouthedness about payroll problems, the increasingly downscale trade market, Rangers superior trade ammo, and Rogers’ directive to cut costs.
Toronto’s 13.5 back. I think they deal him, and now’s the time… Call me crazy.

I have a strange feeling it will be Texas
With some sort of package of Holland or Feliz, Teagarden, Chris Davis, Beavan or Kiker.
by Monkey Brain on Jul 30, 2009 4:12 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
Sold
however, I think its about equally likely the package is Drew Meyer, Kelly Dransfeldt, Mendoza, Nate Gold and Frostad.

After the Lee deal
It set the value of the trade market which looks very weak.

That's why I don't think he gets traded right now.
No one is willing to mortgage their farm for him and he does not walk this winter.

Isn't Beavan slated to pitch tonight?
If so it’ll be interesting to see how long they leave him out there.

Source: Jays scout at Rangers game — 5:10 p.m.
In an interview today with FOXSports.com senior baseball writer Ken Rosenthal, Toronto general manager J.P. Ricciardi didn’t sound optimistic about his chances of dealing Roy Halladay before Friday’s 4 p.m. deadline.
And yet …
One major-league source said the Jays dispatched a scout to watch rookie left-hander Derek Holland pitch for the Rangers tonight against Seattle.
If we read into that a little bit, it would appear that Texas still has a chance — albeit a slim one — of bringing Roy Halladay to Arlington.
Stay tuned.

Come on Dutch
and have a great game. 7IP/2ER/6K/1BB
I wouldnt mind Dealing dutch as long as Feliz, Smoak, and Perez were not included. I am even a bit hesitant to let Davis walk but that is me just really being a fan of Davis. I vote it gets done and its something to the tune of; Dutch, Beaven, Teagarden, Golsen, and Lemon

this reminds me of so much of the Roger Clemens trade
we’ll end up giving the BJ’s what they want, but Red Sox will make a similar if not weaker offer, but Halladay will okay the deal to the Sox and decline going to the Rangers…

Marlins making push for Nats 1B Johnson — 6:37 p.m.
The Marlins are making a strong push for Nationals first baseman Nick Johnson, but the teams have been unable to reach an agreement on the players the Nationals would receive in return, according to a major league source.
The Marlins have offered the Nationals minor league pitching prospects for Johnson. Among the names under discussion: Class AA left-hander Aaron Thompson Class AAA right-hander Ryan Tucker.

5:54pm: Bill Shaikin of the LA Times reports that the Dodgers and Blue Jays spent the afternoon “negotiating extensively” over Roy Halladay. Apparently talks aren’t “dead” after all. The Dodgers would allow the Jays to get a “haul of prospects” but are trying to acquire Halladay without giving up Clayton Kershaw or Chad Billingsley.

The Rangers still haven’t given up hope of acquiring Roy Halladay. Word is the Rangers still have significant on-going communications going on between them and the Blue Jays with under 24 hours to go before the Trade Deadline.
There are also indications that the Rangers are not going to let money get in the way if they can land Halladay for a reasonable package.
The Blue Jays are not going to give him away. Some of the names that have been thrown around include first baseman Justin Smoak, shortstop Elvis Andrus, outfielder Julio Borbon and pitchers Neftali Feliz and Derek Holland.
The Rangers have to weigh that against having for Halladay for just 11/2 years. But apparently this going to come down to a baseball decision. The Rangers apparently are not going to let money get in the way of getting this guy.

Just a thought here
Didn’t the parent co. order costs cut? Seems the GM is trying to dump salary AND rape somebody for Halladay, since they refuse to cover any salary.
I would offer them 4 of anyone in our Milb system except Feliz, Smoak, Perex and Borbon if that’s the case. The suits are happy, b/c he dumps about 20 mil in salary and he gets to brag in the papers about getting 4 “top prospects” out of the #1 farm system.
He says no, we walk.

GM are lying POS this time of year.
6:06pm: MLB.com’s T.R. Sullivan hears that the Rangers have “significant ongoing communications” with the Blue Jays. He also suggests that the Rangers won’t let money prevent them from acquiring Halladay if they can do so for a reasonable price.
5:57pm: Bill Shaikin of the LA Times reports that the Dodgers and Blue Jays spent the afternoon “negotiating extensively” over Roy Halladay. Apparently talks aren’t “dead” after all. The Dodgers would allow the Jays to get a “haul of prospects” but are trying to acquire Halladay without giving up Clayton Kershaw or Chad Billingsley.
5:38pm: Here are the latest highlights from the incessant stream of Roy Halladay rumors. The Jays aren’t talking actively with anyone. Not the Red Sox, not the Yankees, not the Rangers. The Dodgers acquired George Sherrill for a pair of minor leaguers, but they still have enough pieces to tempt the Jays. Like the Angels, they’re focused on relievers now. GM J.P. Ricciardi says he has "nothing going on," but won’t rule out a trade until the deadline is upon us. On to tonight’s rumors:
Of course, there really is no benefit to telling the truth right now either.
