Inside Corner - Interview with Ron Washington
Texas Ranger Manager Ron Washington stops by the Corner to talk with Evan Grant about the team's defensive improvement and how many games he thinks it is responsible for the team winning this season. He also makes a statement that I'd never heard, but I thought was interesting "defense doesn't go in slumps."
Also, check out Wash's reaction to Evan mentioning he watched a game from the stands one night. You just know there was a smart-a** comment ready to come out, but self-restraint won out in the end!
Enjoy

Defense doesn't go in slumps
Chuck Knoblauch, Steve Blass, and Steve Sax might have a problem with that statement.

I don't think that's what he meant.
A team that is well coached, has players with the ability to play their position and the desire to do it well, will not usually go into a team-wide defensive slump. You might see a bad game here and there and you may even see a player have a streak of bad defensive games, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a whole team that was good at D just meltdown for any length of time.
Knoblauch was a headcase.
