Poll: Halladay trade?

With Holland's start today, and the mostly sluggish offense in June - July, I thought we should poll Rangers' fans about their feelings on the possibility of a Halladay trade.  Keeping this one simple.  Not trying to dissect the 1-2 other players needed for the trade, but get a general feel if Rangers' fans want to see the club go for it in '09 for 2 of the top prospects in the system.

This is the offer to the Jays, they get to pick the two players.

I don't want any trade at all

but if I had to it would be Feliz and a couple of B prospects. Maybe just Feliz and Ramirez.

If there were a "helllll no"

or a “hang up immediately” choice I would’ve chosen that. Dealing any combo of the “big four” would be unacceptable IMO

i wouldn't trade 2 of 3

but I would trade 1 of those 3 plus Perez, but there would be nothing else in the offer but that.

I would do Feliz and Perez and that’s it…the most I’m willing to give up.

No I grew up a Sooner but went to

An Oklahoma St. School. Only reason is because of a scholarship. You go where they pay you to go. Much rather be a Sooner than a Longhorn.

More info

11:47pm: Heyman reports that the Rangers came close to acquiring Halladay today. With just over 15 hours to go, the “chances don’t appear great now.”

if its just over money

then i think the jays cave and make the deal. but if the hold-up is our unwillingness to part with a given prospect, i doubt it will happen. and i hope we hold firm, just stick with our lowball offer and hope ricciardi feels compelled to budge.

by Smoakin in the Boys Room on Jul 30, 2009 11:56 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Hopefully

That means they were gonna make a trade that involved Holland and then he went out and reminded them to get there heads out their asses

If Heyman isn't full of crap

I’m pretty scared, because that means that Texas was close to accepting the deal completely on Toronto’s terms.

the only way id ever consider giving up 2 of the big 4

is if halladay agreed to an extension, but obviously that aint gonna happen, so it’s all pointless.

im still scared we’re gonna way overpay somehow

Feliz and Smoak

I would give up them if Borbon, Perez, and Font were left out of the deal. A true #1 is hard to come by, and Feliz may end up being a closer when it’s all said and done.

Feliz,Davis, Perez, Borbon, Kiker, Ramirez

Do it now! i dont think they’ll take it but thats all i would offer

by meatbonelefty on Jul 31, 2009 8:11 AM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Nope.

I don’t offer both Feliz and Perez. I don’t offer any 2 of Feliz, Perez, Smoak, Andrus, or Holland.

That's all you would offer?

A top 10 prospect, a player who has had success in the bigs, our CF next year, a player who will undoubtedly (barring injury) rank in the top 10 at some point in his minor league career (Perez), a pitcher who will make a nice reliever and a catcher who has little or no trade value due to injury? If JD made this trade he would be the worst GM in baseball.

You know some of the best

decisions made by a GM are the trades that ARENT done.

You are obsessed with bodily wastes A turd being held under my nose, this team being a steaming pile, Jonny Donuts having a stinky diaper, the front office pissing themselves, the team crapping the bed…

I think you should seek counselling.

How hard is this to understand?

We have about 30 prospects ranging from ok to really good. We are willing to deal 25 of them.

by Sherman McCoy on Jul 31, 2009 11:22 AM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Halladay

Holland should be untouchable! I would let Smoak, Borbon, and maybe Mathis and one more A or AA pitcher, go in this trade, but NO WAY Holland, Neffy, Hunter or Davis goes! The money comes from Padilla and Blalock being gone next season.
I DO think that this may be the closest the Rangers ever get to having a complete team that just might do some damage in the play-offs! They just need to find a way to eat Halladay’s remaining salary this season (which shouldn’t be that hard).
Oh, and one more thing … I’ve seen Elvis’s name “pop up” in some of these scenerios … absolutely NO DICE! The 1st time we get some speed and defense since Mickey Rivers, and we think about trading it away??? NO sir!

Toronto

Toronto has stated by ESPN that they want 4 players for Holliday.

Sounds like

something a 4 year old would say…

“I want for 1 dollar bills instead of 2 5’s!”

So they would rather take 4 average for 2 plus?
