Jeff Wilson has a new mailbag column up...

Of particular note is him saying that Ian Kinsler isn't moving out of the leadoff spot.

Other good stuff as well...check it out...

Hey wash

Murphy is a better leadoff option versus righties. HTH.

Its not surprising that Kinsler has become the biggest whipping boy, He’s pretty much sucked the last 2 months, and the last month he probably sucked more life out of this offense than anyone else. I really wish they would move him for the sake of moving him. They need to shake up something with him.

"I saw a soldier try to dig a foxhole with his bare hands. He didn't notice that he'd torn off all his fingernails. I got him out of there quickly; not for his sake, but for ours. Fear is poison in combat...destructive, contagious." - Band of Brothers

I agree that he's been bad

the last month or so. But think about this:

PA/Game
Kinsler: 4.63
Young: 4.43
Cruz: 4.10
Blalock: 4.06
Byrd: 4.05
Salty: 3.78
Andrus: 3.62

So, even with him not being as good over the last couple months, he’s ‘costing’ you half a plate appearance a game with his sucking. I would like to point out that while his .542 OPS/.300wOBA has been awful in July, he still has a .795 OPS and a .351 wOBA on the season, which good for 6th and 4th on the team respectively. Considering how bad July was, I was expecting worse.

jeff wilson's mailbag

is a beating. it’s like he either chooses the most simplistic questions to answer, or every question he receives is ruh-tarded.

Yeah...

I don’t understand why AJM keeps linking to them saying that there’s good stuff in there and to check it out.

Deadline approaching...

How quickly after 3PM can we expect the Josey Wales Tantrum about Jon Daniels failing to bring a reasonable offer to Daddy for approval to begin?

Not long

He’s already typed out his rant on the two possible scenarios in the no-win ultimatum he’s thrown down for JD. All he has to do is copy/paste it into the comment box.

Purgatory's kind of like the in-betweeny one. You weren't really shit, but you weren't all that great either. Like Tottenham.

What is Ron's response to suggestions that Kinsler should move down in the lineup?

I really don’t understand why he is being stubborn about this move. Is Kinsler making Soriano-esque demands of remaining lead off because he likes it?

He says that he doesn't want to move Kinsler into and RBI spot if he's struggling

Which doesn’t make much sense, because him hitting leadoff is costing other people RBI chances.

J.P. can take Roy Halladay and shove him up his ass. I’ll take Derek Holland. - AJM

His response was in the mailbag article....

a) He doesn’t think he has any better leadoff options, and
b) “If Kinsler can’t hit in the leadoff spot, why would I move him down into an RBI spot??”

Not great logic on (a), but he has a point on (b).

I’m hoping that this little “timeout” due to his hammy gives him a chance to reset, but from the interviews I’ve read/heard, Ian doesn’t think his approach is wrong.
