Since Jeff didn't answer this question
would anyone else like to give it a try?
We have heard much about the Rangers’ new pitching philosophy, not only for the big-league team but also that it applies down through their system. Do the Rangers have a hitting philosophy that they try to apply throughout their minor-league system?

Per NMLR; per BA
Multiple sources confirmed that the Rangers have signed 16-year-old Luis Sardinas, a switch-hitting shortstop from Venezuela.
No terms of the deal are available, but the bonus is believed to be at least $1 million. Sardinas, who is 6-foot, 150 pounds, was one of the best defensive shortstops on the market this year from Latin America with excellent hands and good range. The Rangers are also expected to sign Jurickson Profar a righthander/shortstop from Curacao.
Cha Ching.
Elvis’ replacement for all of you who think we needed to Longoria him.

since we were expected to be in on him as recently as a few months ago
why did we end up not getting him? was it because of the hicks financial mess/meltdown?

The Rangers supposedly budgeted 2.5mm for LA signings.
It would’ve been a big departure from their recent strategy to commit 80% of that on one guy.

yeah, probably not wise to put too many eggs in one basket
especially on a 16 year old. still, that 2.5 figure must be down considerably from what we budgeted last year if we were chasing ynoa. or maybe that was just a special exception for a special player…

okay
Some anonymous source claims the Rangers spent $2.5 M in LA and now the CW is that that is all we had budgeted – while the CW also holds the Rangers have a hundred [HUNDRED] scouts in LA … who are signing guys for 25K and 50 K left and right. Who freakin’ KNOWS how much we’ve spent and how many guys we signed.
geez

Does that mean that the Rangers will have to turn off the right field bank of lights tonight?
by Redcaps on Jul 4, 2009 3:09 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
nah, they'll keep those going
JD’s just going to have to sit in his suite with no air conditioning now.
By 2028, Mark Teixeira will be in the HOF.
