Interesting Article on Chris Davis at Fangraphs
I'm sure many of us read fangraphs and have seen this already, but it was interesting to see the data about his contact issues. Hopefully he can straighten things out at AAA and get back to being the beasticon we know he is.

Is it just me...
…or did the chart look like Davis was missing more up and outside than inside, as the article states? Or, is the graph from behind home plate?
pitch f/x data is from the catchers viewpoint
Elvis Andrus - 2009 AL Rookie of the Year
Mitch Moreland - 2009 Rangers Minor League POY
Gotcha.
Also, using my eye, I know Davis goes for – and misses – the high fastball, but I was surprised he didn’t swing and miss more on balls in the dirt. He seems to have had a very hard time recognizing pitches like sliders that are practically bounced to him.
I don't think they are thrown to him as much
"I just want to comment on how it’s become like a common thing in the [MLB] for guys to fall in love with [the Rangers’s] sloppy seconds." (thanks cstorm)
i for a (long) while
complained and complained about his K’s and never putting the ball in play, but i would say give him til the ASB. a week early is okay. didn’t realize he was THAT bad.
Hall of Fame pitcher Nolan Ryan was on the same pitching staff with Danny Darwin during the 1986 through 1988 seasons. Both were described by Milo Hamilton as "tall, tough Texans." It was a source of debate amongst Astros players and fans over who would win in a fight, Ryan or Darwin. Though Astros pitcher Bob Knepper attempted to set up a fight between the two during spring training in 1988, manager Hal Lanier stopped it before it could commence. Many experts, including Astros shortstop Rafael Ramirez, felt that Darwin would win because he "looked like someone no man would want to mess with."
I did
but then, when you’re challenged on it and called an asshole because of it, you’ll tend to keep track of that information.
I wasn’t expecting his historically poor performance, but I at least had it in the range of possibilities for Davis unlike others on this site.

i used to keep track
of his k’s. i remember posting that he struck out 3 times more often than 0 times (or was it 2 times more often than 0 times?)

Wow
That actually made me view Davis’ struggles worse than I originally did. And I didn’t think that was possible since I’m generally an over reactor
