because napoli has absolutely crushed lefties
the problem wasn’t bringing in jennings, its that jennings is still pitching now..
the preceding post was a great success.
OPS against lefties
for a group of people who hound Wash for his matchup decisions, this could seem hypocritical
I dont know
if you pull a guy who is pitching that well even with the matchup. If it is a middle of the order guy then fine but not napoli

If he hits a HR
We ask why with Jennings (who has been great this year and was warm in the bullpen) wasn’t put in with Napoli cannot hit righties, but Pujolses lefties
im ok w/ pulling holland there
but its that he left jennings in for about 3 too many batters

Quit with all this logic.
Washington is a dumbass… We are a few innings from first place in spite of him…. etc…
Napoli with a huge OPS against lefties and Jennings having been
a pretty reliable reliever for us this year with an ERA half that of Holland’s.
Some nights the pitchers just don’t do their job.
Which is part of the problem here...
The more pitchers you use in the game, the more likely you’ll run into the pitcher who just doesn’t have it that night. We’re still set to use 3 more pitchers this game for a total of at least 6 likely if we hold on and win in 9 innings.
Ron Washington...giving hope everywhere to the kids who eat lead paint chips of being a big league manager when they grow up since 2007.

…but winning this game comes first, imho.
Going to Jennings there in attempt to help assure the win is at least a rational move.

everybody that disagreed with it, did so before it failed, for a manager that “goes with his gut” you sure would think your gut would tell you to go with the guy that is absolutely Dealing, and not with a righty righty matchup

that's what was so funny to me
was everyone was bitching about RW’s gut, when that was one of his best “statistical” moves all year
its kind of like basketball
you either hit the backboard or you dont when you shoot, if you try to do both then you miss miserably and suck, so either be a gut manager or don’t but dont try to do both and suck at both
