Good

Kins

Go to a beach somewhere and do absolutely nothing for 3 days. Then come back and rape the rest of the AL for the last two months of the season

Bryan Smith (12:17:17 PM PT): Justin Smoak and Josh Hamilton. The AL West might just have found their Bash Brothers, v. 2.0.

Gagree

I am a huge Kins fan, but more importantly a Rangers fan, and I think this will do him and the team some good. He admitted last week on BaD Radio he was tired. Get some rest and come back with something to prove during the second half.

I’d rather have him win the ALCS MVP than make the All-Star Game.

First place Texas Rangers!

This

I hated to admit it and I did go vote for Kins, but he needs the rest more than a trip to the all star game

Well,

hopefully Kinsler has a restful few days.

Darn Detroit

If figures Inge would win. All the fans in Detroit don’t have jobs and can spend all day voting….was that uncalled for? Oh well. Hopefully Kinsler will get all rested up.

Best news of the day!

Beating the Angels 2/3 and now hearing no one gets a free dinner at Bob’s is great! Kinsler needs rest so give it to him. I could careless if he sits on the couch and watches tv or goes to the beach, just comeback with some endurance!

Sad to see him lose out

But if it allows him to get some rest at home and come back strong after the break I’m all for it

Good

Kins can relax and maybe spend the weekend with a hitting coach that doesnt advocate swinging at every pitch.

I voted for Kins as well but agree that maybe the rest

will be just what he needs, Inge was the guy i hoped for IF Kins did not when, as long as it was not Chone

I like it, really. I’ll take a rested, pissed-off Kins over a happy, exhausted Kins.

But I’m selfish like that.

Too bad

But fuck the ASG. It was already an absolute joke this year, this just sends it spiraling into farce territory.

Hamilton getting a starting spot while Kinsler is snubbed?

Pedrioa winning the second base vote?

Jason Bay winning a starting spot over a multitude of more valuable guys?

Yadier freaking Molina somehow starting again for the NL over Brian McCann?

Young getting a backup spot over Rolen?

Victorino winning the final vote for the NL is kind of a coup de grace, although Inge probably did deserve to go over Kinsler, save for the fact that Kinsler got F’d by the fans at second base.

This happens every year though...

Do you really think Kinsler is an AS this year? He’s been pretty good but I’m not going to lose a lot of sleep over him not going. Hill should be the starter at 2B.

After what Hamilton did in the HRD last year there was no way he wasn’t going to be voted in.

Mediocre catchers make the team almost every year, not big deal.

MY has had a good season. Rolen probably deserves to be there over him, but again, not a real big deal.

The final vote all comes down to a couple hundred people who vote 500 times each, who cares.

Kinsler still leads all AL 2B's (unless you count Zobrist, who hasn't played 2B all season)

in wOBA, and is up to second in UZR (to only Polanco). His advantage in WAR has dropped to just one point over Hill in the last week or so, but he still leads all AL 2B’s other than Zobrist at 2.9 WAR.

So yeah, I think he’s an all-star and should be the starter at second, his recent horrible slump aside.

As for Hamilton, him being voted in is the epitome of what I don’t like, and that’s my real bone wit this year’s team, really. The ASG is billed as the best players in the league battling for WS home advantage when it’s really a freaking popularity contest that winds up affecting how baseball’s greatest stage is set. And that freaking sucks.

Yeah well

Hill has a .774 OPS since May first, and Pedroia has a 781. So it’s not like they’ve been worldbeaters lately either.

Touching...
Dear Newberg Report subscribers,

On behalf of my husband and I, I would like to thank you all for your unwavering support during the final vote days. It is always nice to be reminded of how much the Texas Ranger community, especially the Newberg community, appreciates my husband’s hard work and numerous accomplishments during the first half of the season. While the outcome was not as we had hoped, we were overwhelmed by everyone’s constant support.

Once again thank you from the bottom of our hearts,

Tess [Kinsler]
