Nelson Cruz benched again
Nelson Cruz is sitting again tonight, per Evan Grant.
I think it is fair to say that this has gone from him getting a day or two off to getting benched. I'm curious to see how long this trend continues.

Keep winning 9-5 and 8-1 and he can keep sitting as far as I'm concerned.

Well whats wash supposed to do after jones hits 4 HRs in 2 days?
I think cruz will still play 5 days a week or so. He will be in against the upcoming lefties certainly.
the preceding post was a great success.
he could have sat Byrd today
I dont know, i guess Cruz has been struggling but he’s still been one of our best players flat out this year.

He has been
But with hammy back we’ve got 4 OFs who are playing well.. murph is still going well, byrd is in his best run of the season, hammy is hammy, jones is on a bit of a run now… its a good problem. I don’t think it will bother Cruz too much, he will get back in there and if he hits he will stay in there.
the preceding post was a great success.
Didn't he have a stiff back the other night?
Hopefully, that is the case, if not I’m not sure what is going on.
He should be in the lineup if healthy.
true
that could be the case

We should know by now that this team acts like
a hockey team vis-à-vis injuries.

Pretty common in hockey for a club to hide the true extent of an injury.

If it's his back...
I wouldn’t be shocked if they sat him, only PHing him if need be, until after the break.

Wha
Why are you hoping for Cruz to have a stiff back?
"Was this really necsarry?" - cowpoke/hurler hurley
This goes right along with my .....
“What would it REALLY take to get Doc Holliday?” question?
I’m wondering the same as everyone else, “What’s wrong with Nellie?”
But would Nellie, Chris Davis (3b or LF, insurance against Fielder injury), Kiker (almost unhittable lately) and 1-2 more prospects do it?
Josh is eventually moving to RF, Smoak, et al, can handle 1B, now & in the future, sell ‘high’ on Kiker & pick 1 or 2 more high-mid level ‘prospects’….Could it get done?
Obviously, he’d have to wave his no-trade……Why would Milwaukee be any more ‘desirable’ than Dallas? They did trade for C.C….
Unless those 1-2 more prospects...
…were, say, Feliz and Boscan, no.

One of those, but not both......
any chance?
Boscan and Feliz aren't exactly even
so which “one of those” it was would be pretty significant
I used to shoot baskets
I belive Adam's idea is that it would take both.

Feliz, Cruz, Davis and Kiker
Here’s the problem…
Where do they play Cruz? Unless you take back Rios and his contract as part of the deal.

"Unless you take back Rios and his contract as part of the deal."
Sure no problem…but that means Feliz gets replaced by Boscan/Font/Ramirez/Main or something like that. That’s a TON of money
I used to shoot baskets
On 2nd thought
that contract is just a little too long and too pricey for me.
G G G E-flat_______ F F F D__________....
Well, they're talking about shedding salary.....
trading $$$millions (Rios, even Wells) for $$$hundreds of thousands (Cruz) might make sense going forward…….I also agree, if we take back salary, Feliz comes off the table.
With Hamilton back and CD down
this series will show us how Wash will manage his lineups.
against LHP, I wouldn’t be shocked to see Hamilton (DH), Byrd (CF), Murphy (LF), Cruz (RF), Jones (1B) be a fairly regular set up unless you want to sit Murphy then it becomes Hamilton (CF), Byrd (LF), Cruz (RF), Blalock (1B), Jones (DH).
against RHP, my thought now is that if Hamilton isn’t in CF, then Cruz is sitting with Byrd and Murphy filling out the OF and Jones and Hank at 1B/DH. Cruz gets into that lineup when one of Byrd/Jones struggles and Hamilton slides to DH/CF which gets Cruz back on the field.
I used to shoot baskets
I don't think Jones is going to get a start at 1B.
Cruz will probably bi in the lineup vs Bedard and Washburn with Murphy being the odd man out.

You better be concerned with his 'management'
of the ‘pen….or should I say “OVER” management (instead of mis-management)…..the OF/DH/1B will sort itself out, the ’pen mismanagement won’t!
Speaking as a youth supporter and Cruz fantasy owner,
I’m ok with this for the good of the Rangers. At least as long as the other players are hitting.
-Murphy’s offense has been much better than Cruz’s vs. RHP.
-Byrd’s offense has been significantly better than Cruz’s vs. RHP.
-Jones’s defense has been on-par with Cruz’s in the corner OF and he’s been hot recently.
-Hamilton is Hamilton.
-Blalock has been hot recently and is the only person “experienced” at 1B.
-Murphy will likely stay much better offensively so should be every day vs. RHP.
-Byrd could get cold again.
-Jones could get cold again.
-Hamilton could need more rest/healing/clearing mind
-Blalock could get cold again.
For the good of the club THIS YEAR, it makes perfect sense to bench Nelson Cruz right now.

prediction
you are going to get reamed for your 3rd point
Yeah...
I kind of figured this would happen.
