Volquez to have surgery
Hamilton and Volquez years seem to have mirrored each other both this year and last year.
Cincinnati Reds right-hander Edinson Volquez is scheduled to undergo elbow surgery Monday.
It was not immediately clear if he will have a ligament-replacement procedure, known as Tommy John surgery.
On the disabled list since June 2, Volquez, who made just nine starts this season, could throw only 20 pitches of a simulated game scheduled for 80 on Friday before complaining of tightness in a muscle.

Kind of sucks
I liked seeing him to do well, even if not for the Rangers.

Personally,
I’d rather see ex-Rangers fail than succeed.

I general, I agree
But it depends on the circumstances of their leaving. I bear no ill will towards Edinson. We got Josh and I’m fine with that, especially considering the depth of pitching and lack of position players in the minors. Plus, he’s playing in the NL so we rarely will ever play against him.

i generally like it when they fail,
unless that failure is accompanied by an embarrassing steroids association that traces back specifically to their rangers days.

Agreed to a point
If they’re in the AL, then I agree, but in the NL, especially in the NL Central where he gets to play the Astros, I’d be happy if he succeeds.

Pitchers I do because if they succeed it will get brought up all the time
Hitters, especially ones that left in FA, i generally root for. Like Dellucci and DeRosa.
the preceding post was a great success.

I don't know how
you just flip the switch from rooting for a guy to wanting to see them fail. Guess that takes a special kind of asshole personality.

So...
This turned out to be Tommy John. Common cure for Dusty-Bakeritis of the elbow.

I'd love to see a full list
of pitchers who washed out due to Dusty Baker. I imagine it gets pretty lengthy.

Admittedly...
he didn’t have the smoothest mechanics. Didn’t some folks always predict injury for him? Also, he pitched nearly 200 innings last year, then pitched offseason and WBC, right?
But yeah, Baker’s had an interesting run of injured young pitchers.
