If the Rangers win tomorrow
they would have gone 5-2 in their home stand and 10-3 since playing the Red Sox, and actually lost ground.

They're playing
like they’re looking to break Seattle’s all time win record. It’s nuts

Since the All-Star break
Rangers since the break: 10-5
Result: Lost 2.5 games on the Angels

At this rate
54-6 ain’t gonna be a problem for them, with the 6 losses all against the Rangers.
Seriously though, if they keep it going through most of the rest of the season, I can only tip my hat to them. The worst thing about losing the division this year (considering our future) is going to be that look on Rev’s smug, arrogant, douchey face.
Remember to retire Fin's number, Mark.
Well I had hope when they lost those 2 consecutive games.
But winning 4 in a row or whatever instantly cancelled that out.
the preceding post was a great success.
14 total
But the batters left 35 total on base when getting out – what is the name of that stat?

Do you realize that is physically impossible in a 9 inning game?
You can’t add up each players LOB.. striking out 3 times with the bases loaded counts as 9 like that.
the preceding post was a great success.
I still don't get it.
How many did they leave on base when they weren’t getting out? Well, …

Hamilton
I think you have to keep running him out there.
The only way this offense gets much better is for Hamilton and Kinsler to get back to where they were last year.
It’s not as though we have other guys fighting their way into the lineup behind him.
by Darrell McKown on Aug 1, 2009 10:28 PM CDT up reply actions
The question is
whats the fastest way to get Hamilton back? Murphy showed more improvement when they had him riding pine than Hamilton or Davis has shown trying to play their way out of it.

Davis
I think he was more lost than Hamilton is now.
Hamilton is such a better hitter than Davis or Murphy that I keep thinking he’ll come around.
by Darrell McKown on Aug 1, 2009 10:58 PM CDT up reply actions
Hamilton is a better hitter
but he is completely lost now. What needs fixing with Hamilton looks like it can be fixed in the minors or batting cages.

As long as the cages are not in Arlington, I concur...
He needs a trip to work with someone who teaches basics, not some side work with Sr. Svengali.

Hamilton 100% needs to be sent down right now.
He’s butt ass terrible and hurting the team.
He needs to be Volquez’d and sent all the way down to work on his shit in a pressure free environment.
The best way for him to get better is to get him somewhere where he can work on trying to get his swing back.
This needs to happen, like, today.

"I’m not in the meetings and not part of the discussions; it’s not my responsibility. . My responsibility is to go out and win tonight. My focus is to win tonight. The club has to look at more than just this year." -Michael Young
I really just don't get what is gonig on with hamilton.
He is so tentative with every swing, and yet somehow even with that approach he has been striking out a lot.
Is he just having an incredibly hard time seeing the ball.. i dont konw.
the preceding post was a great success.
and i remember josh saying a while ago that he can't even hit his batting practice HRs anymore

then Josh is hopeless. Trade him for some batting practice balls.

clarification
I meant josh lewin in some random hamilton discussion. Probably should say that given hamilton’s first name heh.
the preceding post was a great success.
The question is, what changed between the end of last year and the beginning of this year
It seemed like Hamilton, and the Rangers offense as a whole, was unstopable last year.
by Mark from OC on Aug 1, 2009 10:20 PM CDT up reply actions
Rudy did change his swing since he sucked so bad last year

very serious, that was the excuse for the slow start,
then he was in the midst of going back to his old swing and he got hurt.

Maybe, then he just needs to get it out of his system
Have a bad year the rest of 2009, and start back from his old swing in spring training 2010. DL might not be a bad idea
by Mark from OC on Aug 1, 2009 10:24 PM CDT up reply actions
They did change his swing
But i think that has been overhyped. It was just some toe tap thing and minor adjustments or something not a radical swing change.
And supposedly some of those changes were already in place in september last year when he had a .959 ops… and he was good in spring training.
the preceding post was a great success.
..continuing
I just don’t think his current problem is anything to do with some swing change back and forth 5 months ago. I mean the guy took years off doing drugs and almost immediately hit MLB pitching and now he can’t correct a swing chance in months?
It doesn’t look like he has any confidence right now.
the preceding post was a great success.
So the solution then is a sports psychologist
If he has lost his confidence, then he just needs to re-find it. I am sure there are plenty of people that can help

Hamilton..
He has got to stop swinging at everything. He usually swings at the first pitch of an AB, and its always off-speed and out of the zone. He follows that up by swinging at every other pitch thrown his way. He’s getting himself out, pitchers don’t even have to throw 1 ball in the strike zone to get him out.

One positive about Big Tommy is that
his K/BB Ratio has been consistently trending upward. Despite having little control on his FB, he was still throwing a good swing and miss CU and his CB when thrown well was also effective. Too bad his FB was not anywhere close to being good tonight. He still has some regression to go, but I think he still has a chance to finish with a ROS ERA under 4.00 with our defense.
