If the Rangers win tomorrow

they would have gone 5-2 in their home stand and 10-3 since playing the Red Sox, and actually lost ground.

Rangers since the break: 10-5

Result: Lost 2.5 games on the Angels

At this rate

54-6 ain’t gonna be a problem for them, with the 6 losses all against the Rangers.

Seriously though, if they keep it going through most of the rest of the season, I can only tip my hat to them. The worst thing about losing the division this year (considering our future) is going to be that look on Rev’s smug, arrogant, douchey face.

Hamilton

I think you have to keep running him out there.

The only way this offense gets much better is for Hamilton and Kinsler to get back to where they were last year.

It’s not as though we have other guys fighting their way into the lineup behind him.

by Darrell McKown on Aug 1, 2009 10:28 PM CDT up reply actions

The question is

whats the fastest way to get Hamilton back? Murphy showed more improvement when they had him riding pine than Hamilton or Davis has shown trying to play their way out of it.

Hamilton is a better hitter

but he is completely lost now. What needs fixing with Hamilton looks like it can be fixed in the minors or batting cages.

Hamilton 100% needs to be sent down right now.

He’s butt ass terrible and hurting the team.

He needs to be Volquez’d and sent all the way down to work on his shit in a pressure free environment.

The best way for him to get better is to get him somewhere where he can work on trying to get his swing back.

This needs to happen, like, today.

by Mark from OC on Aug 1, 2009 10:24 PM CDT up reply actions

They did change his swing

But i think that has been overhyped. It was just some toe tap thing and minor adjustments or something not a radical swing change.

And supposedly some of those changes were already in place in september last year when he had a .959 ops… and he was good in spring training.

Hamilton..

He has got to stop swinging at everything. He usually swings at the first pitch of an AB, and its always off-speed and out of the zone. He follows that up by swinging at every other pitch thrown his way. He’s getting himself out, pitchers don’t even have to throw 1 ball in the strike zone to get him out.

One positive about Big Tommy is that

his K/BB Ratio has been consistently trending upward. Despite having little control on his FB, he was still throwing a good swing and miss CU and his CB when thrown well was also effective. Too bad his FB was not anywhere close to being good tonight. He still has some regression to go, but I think he still has a chance to finish with a ROS ERA under 4.00 with our defense.

A guy on the Newberg board says he spoke with him last night as he was leaving with his bags. Just what I read, not vouching for validity….

"I’m not in the meetings and not part of the discussions; it’s not my responsibility. . My responsibility is to go out and win tonight. My focus is to win tonight. The club has to look at more than just this year." -Michael Young
