US v. Mexico - World Cup Qualifying
This post is going to have spoilers so if you are DVRing the game to watch later, stop reading now.
Is anyone else watching this? The United States got the best start we could hope for with a goal from Davies in the ninth minute. Davies was basically one-on-one with the goalie and placed the shot perfectly. The Mexicans looked slow early in the game but then tied it with a long range shot from 25+ yards in the 20th minute. Mexico had been bombing away from outside the 18 yard box all game and this one finally found the mark. I wish Altidore was playing instead of Ching, but I guess I understand Bradley's reasoning. Still, Ching does nothing for me.
The game is available on Telemundo only. Channel 39 on regular TV (that is in Spanish) and Channel 838 on Dish Network (in English).

Tie game at halftime
The announcers seem shocked that Mexico is getting all the calls. The US defenders already have three yellow cards while no cards have been issued to Mexico. I don’t know what they were expecting, but I think we all knew that all the calls would go against the US team. Since the first US goal, the American offense has been nearly non-existent while Mexico is still getting chances. Need to improve that in the second half.

yup
I’d love to see Jozy replace Ching to add some offense in there

It is in English on Telemundo's mun2
The DMN today said that Telemundo has exclusive rights to all Mexican National Team games played in Mexico. If the DMN is to be believed, they tried to sell the English speaking rights to ESPN for a huge fee and ESPN turned them down.
Mun 2 is:
Dish Network 838
Direct TV 203
The DMN says it is available to cable subscribers also but lists no channels.

Ching going off for Feilhalder and Clark leaving in favor of Holden
Still want Altidore on the pitch.

"Donovan's out there, haven't seen him in a while"
That was a quote from the announcer and was exactly what I think of Donovan in most big games for the US. When he plays for LA he shoots all the time and when he puts on the national team jersey, it is like he is allergic to shooting the ball.

Davies should have scored on that cross from Holden
Tough play, but that one has to be made.

That should have been a handball
Feilhaber with an attempted dive there. No one touched him and then he acted like he was getting choked, PJ Carlisimo style.

Altidore is in
I hope there is enough time left for him to get in the flow of the game. Of course Davies was pulled for Altidore, which sucks because Davies has been our best player all game.

Gooch is in the middle of everything
Of course if they would have gotten in a fight, Gooch would have killed the little 5-3 Mexican striker.

Mexico with a goal
Complete defensive breakdown. That makes Davies swing and a miss on the diving header earlier huge.

Fuck life.
Awful. Defense has been collapsing all day. They deserved this likely result.
Way to not lurk and instead shit all over yourself during your first fanshot.

I was a little bit shocked
Of course I saw him on Fox Soccer Report during his first game where a defensive lapse allowed a goal. It looked familiar.

Here come the stall tactics
Can’t blame them, but every time a Mexican gets touched they act like they got shot by an AK.

Altidore
was subbed in way too late to be any kind of a factor. And once Davies was subbed out the explosiveness was out of the offense.

Just want to throw it out there...
I hate Mexico. LIke I don’t even want to visit the country because I just think of celebrating Mexican fans in US stadiums and I get mad.

The behavior of their fans in throwing all kinds of rubbish on Donovan when he took the final US corner kick was despicable. A team whose fans behave in such a way should be penalized.

The hunkering down strategy after taking a lead is very risky, esp. when you don’t have players with great ball-control skills. The US team will be most successful when it stays aggressive.

Random Thoughts
It is very tough to win 11 v 15 and the altitude, awe of the stadium and the 110k + fans… all of which lead to a very difficult road to travel.
The officiating was completely worthless coming from a certified referee of over 8 years. To not card the stalling tactics of the Mexicans is one thing, then the issue with Davies down with cramps and the Mexicans pulling him up (in a non sportsmanlike manner) is unacceptable. Grouped with the fact that all of the officials were all smiles after Moreno blew the final whistle and it just screams incompetance.
Otherwise, the USA will not be able to hold on to leads as they continue to scream that they need to do until they can possess the ball on a consistent basis. Not sure what needs to be done in training by Bradley, maybe 11 v 22 scrimmages against the development programs or what, but this is the MAIN thing holding us back from being a world power that we are so close to being.
Bocanegra needs to take that next step of being an Agoos type of communicator in the back. He has great physical skill and attributes, but organization from a left back position is very difficult and he just may not have the size to play in the middle. Maybe if Bradley would switch things up to a staggered 4-4-2 where you essentially have a sweeper (Boca) and a center back cleaning up behind him (Gooch), the defensive breakdowns wouldn’t be such an issue.
