OT: Cowboys 09 bandwagon thread
Well the media has written off the Cowboys to 9-7 and third place in the division by consensus. Of course we know that's BS. It's about the coordinators and between Garett and crucially, Philips fully taking over the defense the boys are in great shape. I expect about a 7-0 start, 12-4 or better, and a good chance of a Super Bowl winning season. So jump on the bandwagon now.
Also looking around the league, we see the Texans already replacing the OC, again proving me right. Also expect the Patriots to fall without McDaniel. I read that OC will be a comination of the QB coach and Belichick there. Expect Belichick to be worming new OC's in by midseason should they stagger, because of course everybody knows it's really the OC that matters, especially the Texans and Patriots.
Looking around the league, the losses of excellent D-cords in Balt and NYG will hurt those teams, and IIRC Indy has a new OC that should serve Peyton well.
BTW, I heard Sean Salisbury on Cowboys preseason radio..he was surprisingly less annoying than he was at ESPN.

Great start there.
What a disaster.

Garret is a terrible coordinator
They will probably not be as good as the Texans.

I'm amazed
at how the Cowboy faithful consistently overrates the Cowboys. Bad coaching and suspect players at skill positions isn’t exactly a formula for success.

It's always fun to see
that giant of coaching, Wade Phillips, and that rock solid winner, Tony Romo, in action.

yeah
13-3 and 9-7 is huge failure. they should just disband now.
texans probably will be good this year, of course because they changed the oc. of course. they would never stick with the same oc, because they know whats important here.
actions speak louder than words.

It is a formula for 22-10 the past two seasons
apparently, though.

and then
postseason failure. Eventually this team will run all the hard work that Parcells did into the ground. They probably have a losing season this year.
If Garrett was smart he’d just feed Jones the ball 30+ times a game, and not rely on losers like Romo or Williams. Luckily he isn’t a smart coordinator.

Parcells had four seasons here
And he accomplished nothing but mediocrity. Four friggen years. Wade has had two arguably better than anything Parcells did already. Not even counting the great upcoming season.
Parcells is a hack who becomes more overrated by the day. Nice to see his pathetic overrated Miami team get run out in the first round. Running, defense, dont turn the ball over, and suck, it’s the Parcells way.
Of course Parcells teams can win, if they have a good OC like anybody else. Since oldass Dan Henning is the Oc there in Miami, sharky can let you in on the fact, their future isn’t bright. Look for more mediocrity out of them.
I’m very glad he’s gone. He’s old and he’s useless.

Postseason failure
I’m convinced is just down to chance. The real indicator of your team is the regular season proved over the long haul. The postseason is the limited sample size.
Certainly the Cowboys “should” have beat Seattle in Parcells final year, and had a chance to beat NYG in Wade’s first year as well. It just didn’t work out.
But looking at how we dominated Arizona and Pittsburgh late in the season, only too lose those games, is another sign the Cowboys are good.
by Sharky on Aug 14, 2009 10:54 AM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Dominated?
Hardly. The Arizona game was…week 5, not exactly “late in the season”, and was a weird one which they should’ve won, that was the first game the OL problems started to show.
They played pretty damn well for the Pittsburgh game, just didn’t get the bounce of the ball. Still, it wasn’t really dominant either.
Remember to retire Fin's number, Mark.

I do think that most dont understand that we still have a really good offense, Tony Romo is actually a good QB and we arent gonna be a bad team this year.

i think it is funny how TO gets the blame of the offenses struggles last year
the playbook the Cowboys used, and this is a rough paraphrase of Ray Lewis, was the simplest offense in the NFL last year. There is no reason the offense should have been struggling with Witten, WIlliams and TO to throw the ball to, unless the problem lay elsewhere. I think this year will be the defining year or Romo’s career, either good or bad. You can’t use the scapegoat that they had to get the ball to TO because he whines. That’s such BS.

this team seriously lacks depth
and they don’t have a good head coach. i love that jerry keeps wrecking his chances with some of the most talent in the NFL by letting an idiot run the team and failing to address his depth problems, esp on the O-line.

I do agree that they lack depth.
Especially at CB, OL and WR.
That said, this year will definitely tell the Wade Phillips tale. There’s no real excuses anymore; he’s calling the defense (his specialty), and all the so-called distractions are gone. It’s eat or be eaten for Wade this year.

I know a lot of black guys
And they keep telling me how much the Cowboys will miss TO this year.
Thats laughable. Even you guys know by now the players dont matter at all. Especially at a useless position like wide receiver.
The Cowboys could pull four guys out of college and it would have no effect at all on this season. WR’s are just bodies. Hurd, Austin, Williams, whatever none of them matter at all, totally interchangable.

Count how many times this year.....
After a 1st down incompletion that Garrett calls a run right up the middle.
It will be at least 90% of the time…..and those times that its not a run will be when we are behind in obvious passing situations.
I know that his goal is “try to make it 3rd and 5 instead of 3rd and 10”, but when fans notice this…of course a defensive corr. notices this and will stuff the run.
