Meh...
K rate isn’t high enough.
Anyone know what’s wrong with him. Only 3 K’s last night.

I just giggled and peed my pants. Is that weird?

Depends how old you are
If you are in your 80s, I think its normal.
"What ... 92 miles per hour?" Feldman scoffed. "That's not gas. Feliz throws gas."

Feliz was born...
…when I had about 3 weeks left in my junior year in high school.
I feel really, really old.

he's 4 months older than me.
and Elvis is 4 days older than me.
What the hell am I doing with my life?
i feel so worthless

I have several pairs of boots
older than that kid. Then there is the one that turned 18 this year and might be even better.

Purke News:
Matthew Purke, the left-handed pitcher from Houston Klein High School, was a guest of the Rangers at the Ballpark in Arlington on Saturday night.
Purke, who was the Rangers No. 1 draft pick in the June First-Year Player Draft, sat with his family in a private suite and watched the Rangers defeat the Red Sox, 7-2.
There were no negotiations during the visit. The two times remain apart in their discussions but have until 11 p.m. CT on Monday to get something done. If not, Purke is planning to attend TCU.
Purke did get one obstacle out of the way. He had his pre-signing physical done this week and passed. Now the two sides need to get a deal done.

hm
The Rangers will amass so much talent that roster management is going to be a problem in a couple years.

That was probably the perfect game for him to attend.
It was essentially a showcase of the Rangers development system.
yea, exactly

Neftali Rodriguez' first 3 or 4 pitches last night were way overthrown ...
I was really worried we were about to see his first ‘rookie’ moment. But he settled down and started locating a more controlled delivery down in the zone. After that, it was ovah.
BTW, what’s the consensus on David Murphy butchering the VMart single off the wall in RF? Shoulda been caught, right? Dude should still have only 1 hit allowed.

my thought was:
How the hell did that ball stay in the park? Off the bat I started yelling curses but it looked like it hit a wall and fell straight down…
God is clearly on Neftali’s side.

Ummm who is Neftali Rodriguez?

I figured that
Was curious if someone had called him that before or what. I posted earlier from my phone so i thought I missed something

Adam--just curious?
How can you love Feliz after only 8 IP in the majors? Seems to be a might skimpy sample to base your “heart” and devotion upon?
If that line was a start
his game score would be 10,763,914.

You know what's funny?
AJM’s first post of the day was that stats versus the naked eye are more indicative. Here we have a classic SSS yet we’re all damn sure (including me) that Feliz’s 8.2 innings are the real deal based on what we’ve “seen.” Just kind of odd.
Remember Red, hope is a good thing. Maybe the best of things. And no good thing ever dies.
Well...
…if you look at it like an extension of what he was doing on the farm, it’s okay. Plus I think he, like the rest of us, are marveling at what he’s done so far even if it isn’t really much.

bah
i dont think you luck your way into 16 ks and 0 bbs in 8.2 innings. you can have a lucky streak of not giving up a bunch of hits, but when youre striking out guys like that, your doing something right
When you throw that hard...
and the league hasn’t seen you, sure you can. I don’t think I would call it luck, but there have been pitchers that throw that hard who have had initial success and then struggled.
I don’t believe Feliz has been lucky. He has been great. However, when the league sees more of him and hitters start to see him for the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th time that will tell us a lot more about how effective he can be. Let’s not forget, every pitcher struggles at some point in time. Feliz will too. He’s still very young though and the type of arm that Feliz has doesn’t come around very often. He’s a special kind of talent. Hopefully he will reach his potential.

AGREED
There are plenty of guys that throw that hard and have had early success…look at Joel Zumaya his first year, he absolutely SMOKED everyone off the field. Look at Justin Verlander, who like Zumaya throws so damn hard but has made the necessary adjustments to stay on top of hitters and keep em off balance. I live in L.A. and I see J. Broxton all the time, that oaf throws hard but has been blowing saves now. So its not about luck, its actually about skill and intelligence as a pitcher. Its a guessing game up there, if the hitter guesses right they have a chance to hit you. But of course it helps to have 103 mph heat as one of your weapons, and that cuts down the thinking time a player has. That batter better be waaaaaaaaay out of the batter’s box in order to generate enough time to “guess” at what’s coming. I have one question though, does anyone know if they are going to make Neffy a reliever or starter. Because look at what happened to Joba and Phil Hughes in New York…as a reliever Joba threw harder than as a starter and vice versa with Hughes. If Feliz stays a reliever he can keep gassing it up to 100+, but as a starter, does he have the stamina to throw 100+ plus for 100 pitches or more? Just wondering, thanks.

Anyone know what the record is
for most K’s without giving up a BB to start a career? I tried googling with no success.
