I would enjoy nothing more then giving JJ his walking papers.

Agreed ,

but with Grilli on the DL, if Milly gets DL’d, and Nippert gets plugged into roto, he’s the only option we have for a RH long reliever.

Oh I gladly disagree there.

We have Do-Math as well as some kid who throws 103… What’s his name… I know it’s probably not the best thing to start Feliz as a long reliever, but he did a great job at OKC starting.

I would also take the Mad-dawg over JJ. Everyone may not like him as much, but damn JJ is in my shit house.

by AceJC on Aug 2, 2009 11:50 PM CDT up reply actions

Do-MAthe is a lefty,

and are you really ready ti trust a rookie, with questionable command of his secondary ptiches, be a RH long reliever?

Mathis is a righty.

And if we need a long reliever, it’s 9 times out of 10 because the starter got rocked. Which means we’ll probably be down and just need someone to stop the bleeding. That’s a lower pressure situation as there ever was one. Already down 5-8 runs, that would be the best time to put him in.

When would you want to put Feliz in?

by AceJC on Aug 3, 2009 12:00 AM CDT up reply actions

I see your point,

and I corrected myself above. I’m actually hoping Nippert goes 4-5 tomorrow night, and Feliz takes it thru the 7th, regardless of the game situation.

I'm all for that. I just wish he could make his debut at home.

I’m going for glass half full and we’re up 9-1 after 5, Nip gets pulled, and Feliz works 6 and 7. Eddie works 8 and O’Day works nine.

Let’s see how good my Nostradomus impersonation goes.

It doesn’t really matter if they win the division or the wild card, does it?

If this team makes it to the playoffs, anything can happen.

I didn’t even think we’d be .500 this year (though I wouldn’t have been shocked by it happening). I will absolutely be happy with the playoffs in what I thought was a primer year before the real fireworks.

Fate in hands...

Well, given we’ve still got a boat load of games against the Angels and a series (@ home) with the Red Sox still to go, I’m not worried…yet. If we get swept or something by either team, we’re likely toast…

We’ll know a lot more about this team after the Angels series this coming weekend. We didn’t do badly last time we were in Anaheim…

He is on the 60 day DL

and his contract is up at the end of the season. I could see them offering him a NRI to ST next year.

Dodgers have shown some interest in the past,

but I unless they offer him a ML contract, I think he’d take an NRI from us.
It’s been kinda forgotten but he’s the longest tenured Ranger pitcher.
Let’s see… What do Mathis, Holland, Hunter, Benoit, CJ, and Hurley have in common?

He's a FA

and there’s way too many internal options that are cheaper and better. So he wont be back here.

That is sad though.

He gave us alot of good season’s to have his career end that way.

He was a org. solider

and I won’t ever forget his 2007 season of utter domination. But he was essentially 3.5M of dead weight.

It was good while it lasted and sucks that it had to end this way, but its time to move on.

back in 07, he was the ONLY farm-raised pitcher we had on the roster, I think. I’d love to see him back.

I just checked out Feliz's OKC stats.

The guy pitched 77 innings, has 75 K’s and has only given up 2 HR’s. Usually guys who throw that damn hard give up longballs. 2!!! I cannot wait to watch this kid pitch!!!
