Abolish The Draft
A very interesting read from Dave Cameron on FanGraphs.

Interesting idea.
I think people continually underestimate how much of a concession the MLBPA is willing to give in terms of the draft, though. There may be the idea that players in the union would rather give concessions there, but we have to remember that it’s the same agents that turn the head of players both in the union and ones drafted that aren’t in it yet. Scott Boras and others aren’t going to give up making so much money in essentially risk-free investments like draft picks without asking for a lot more in return than is expected. Union players were draft picks, too, and I’m sure they would have all loved to have gotten higher signing bonuses as a draft pick, regardless of their Major League salary.
