New Jeff Wilson mailbag up
This Jeff Wilson mailbag is dedicated to Jayslick, who knows better than anyone what 15 year olds can and can't do...
Questions on Tanner Scheppers, Chris Davis (who Wilson says will be back on September 1, and who some in the organization think maybe should be up before then), and what Nolan Ryan does, among other things...
Check it out...

How is Davis eligible for postseason play
if he is brought up September 1st?

Sigh....
Someone else goes on the DL to trigger all the playoff roster rules posted yesterday..

Like ive posted the last couple days
Bring him up August 31st and option Mathis or Eyre. Then simply bring them back up once rosters expand and they can still be eligible because of the pitchers we have on the 60 day DL

rule changes
This is from metsFever and is a year old.
This year the players no longer have to be on the active 25 man roster as of Aug. 31, all they need to be is on the 40 man roster. As of this year a playoff team can select any 25 players regardless of the ratio or time spent in the majors for the playoffs. This rule change is why four players went on the 60-day DL on Aug. 31 and were replaced on the 40 man roster but those players weren’t brought up. In 2006 Al Reyes or Ricardo Rincon could have only made the playoff roster if a pitcher went on the DL, now Jerry and Omar can simply pick them.
After each series the team can completely restock the roster with any players from the 40 man roster. A player that makes the NLDS may not make the NLCS if the team chooses another player.

deepthroat
Wilson knows who deepthroat is?
Simply put, if Galloway didn’t have the goods from good sources, he wouldn’t have written what he did. But he had good sources, who painted a fairly bleak financial picture for the Rangers heading into the near future.

I suspect that Galloway's claim was significant enough
that the Star Telegram wouldn’t have run with it unless Galloway could assure them that this wasn’t idle speculation but backed up.
Go Rice Owls!
Still seems like someone else would come out and say something
If not anyone from the Rangers, at least Purke and his camp would have said something about the Rangers completely lowballing them.

Galloway is a columnist
with too many years at the FWST. His are opinion pieces with different fact checking requirements. I wouldn’t be surprised if an Editor didn’t even read it until it was in print.

While the Rangers
are not likely to get into a public pissing contest with the Star Telegram, if there was not more than a little truth to Galloway’s accusation about the extent of major league baseball’s involvement with their
finances I think they would quickly say so.
This is what's got me bummin' ...
why aren’t the Rangers responding to this? Am I TOTALLY wasting my time being an avid Ranger fan considering the financial doom looming over their youth-fueled ascension? I’m literally in limbo waiting for things to be spelled out to me better. Is it useless to invest fan-sweat into this franchise anymore?
wilson's support is all well and good
but im still not going to buy it until we get some more reliable information, from better sources.
what strikes me as perhaps more interesting isn’t just whether it’s true, but who in the ranger’s front office fed galloway this story, and is it indicative of some internal conflict. whether it’s true or not, somebody in the organization has the agenda of calling attention to the financial woes of hicks and the rangers. it seems like blatant antagonism, – unless there is some ulterior reason, like they want to use it to diffuse blame over striking out on purke.
i guess the source could be unassociated with the rangers, someone with MLB maybe, but i doubt that.

greatness... haha, thats just tons of fun
"The House That Ruth Built, 85 years old, goes out as The House That Hamilton Knocked Down"
Since J. D. is so candid and approachable...
I wish Jeff Wilson (or somebody) would bluntly ask him why the team is reluctant to bring Davis back at the present time, given the fact that the odor coming from the 7th slot in the batting order can be detected all the way to OKC.
Ephesians 3:20-21...and I can only imagine
He may be candid
But he probably won’t say anything helpful because nobody is getting cut to make room for Davis which is what would have to happen. And since nobody is getting cut then whatever he said would get back to the clubhouse and un-needed drama or tension would probably occur. Stuff that could send this team into a tailspin especially given the last couple games.

Lineup via Jeff Wilson
1. Julio Borbon, DH
2. Michael Young, 3B
3. Josh Hamilton, CF
4. Marlon Byrd, LF
5. Ian Kinsler, 2B
6. Nelson Cruz, RF
7. Hank Blalock, 1B
8. Taylor Teagarden, C
9. Elvis Andrus, SS
And give MY a day off while Omar is swinging well.
It’ll pay off down the stretch to rest him a day or two along the way.
Why is Byrd hitting ahead of Kinsler?

Micheal Young doesn’t “get” days off. He may ask for one but his name is written in permanent marker on the lineup sheet from game number 1.

Also, I don't mind CFs with an 800 OPS
But I still don’t want them batting cleanup.
