Well one implosion instead of two and that would be how that series should have gone
oh well, no big deal. take care of the rays!
the preceding post was a great success.
I would see guys like Maybin or FMart or Milledge and wish we had one of those.
Kinda glad we got Borbon instead.
Milledge?

The latter.
There was a time when Milledge was a pretty good prospect, but he’s turned out to be a massive dissapointment this far, both at the plate and in the field.

Nice game
But it just makes you think what could have been. They should have swept this series.
2009 Texas Rangers: Why The Hell Not Us?--ghtd36 on May 13, 2009
I more thought 3 of 4 was the "should have" and a sweep would've been icing on the cake heading into the series
Although from an after-the-fact perspective, since we had big leads in all four games, then that does move a sweep into “should have” territory.

Murphy,
for all the love he gets when he is going good, is only 772. Which makes the 4th OF/platoon OF sound extremely realistic.
I can’t see Murphy ever being particularly productive versus lefties.

its been killing us really
someone posted something a couple weeks ago about how bad MY was to his left and right at 3Bs normal position according to UZR. He’s been letting way too many balls by him on his left, his positioning is really, really bad in terms of that.
I can almost guarantee you someone in the FO or someone who’s doing numbers analysis brought this to MYs attention through Ron or someone else, its been pretty blatantly bad. I hope this helps MY out and lowers that negative UZR some, cuz i dont think MY is that bad of a 3B, his position and footwork just needs a little work

This is a boring thread.
Lets see if I can spice it up…
So Blalock was the definition of anti-clutch tonight. Three fairly worthless hits. No RBIs. And he scored the 10th run of a game that the Rangers won 11-1. This follows his anti-clutchness of the last two games where he also had no runs or RBIs in when the Rangers really needed them. Who’s Carrying This Thing? Borbon! The Rangers are 7-4 since that Glorious Day (first game he appeared in after being recalled from OKC).

He contributed to a Ranger win on July 19 of this year... we scored a run off him.
In 2004 he had one game with a game score of 73 and another game with a game score of -1.

Is it your position that he is bad for team chemistry? After all we were 2-0 with k-rich and his fly honey with the team. Maybe we need to make a positive change with our backup catcher to save This Thing.

You really are the only person
who seems to realize that the war in june, as you like to put it, was really a loss for both sides. Davis failed as a MLB 1b this year, and Blalock has failed as a MLB 1b for pretty much the rest of the year, outside of a nice 10 day stretch.
We don’t have a competent offensive 1b right now. We have a choice of rejects. I just would rather see the other reject now because I think we know exactly what we have in Hank now, hes basically been the same thing, outside of September last year for a good long while now.
What do voluntary mean?

I hope he does well
But hes had about 3 good weeks all year.
I wonder if moving him out of a run producing area of the lineup was all it took to get him to actually doing something useful.
Right now I think the lineup I’d like to see is
Borbon
Young
Hamilton
Cruz
Kinsler
Murphy/Byrd
Blalock/1b
Catcher
Andrus

But

I’ve been looking through 1994 and can’t find a single player that has an OBP worse than that with that many PAs. That is historically bad.

The problem is
we don’t know if Davis is fixed until hes up here and producing.
What do voluntary mean?
Can he be worse than Blowcock?
To date, even with the “incredible” night tonight, Blowcock is giving you just about as much as Davis did. The difference between the two is that you know what Blowcock will be because he’s not getting any better. We won’t know if Davis has until he’s back, and even if he hasn’t, you get better defense and you haven’t lost anything.

Just walked in from the game.
Great victory, good night by most. Kinsler is dropping that back shoulder again before he starts his swing, that concerns me. Blalock was quite good at the plate and MY at the field. Julio Borbon is the best hitter in the MLB, right now. Wash pulled Holland perhaps a little too early but that is quite okay after last 2 nights, better safe than sorry. Neftali is good and doesn;t feel he has to strike everybody out. Boston won again, so that was worst part of night. Eyre got through an inning but they hit the ball well off of him. Byrd was player of the game. Good night to all.

Blalock’s day-cation now must wait at least until Saturday after his three singles. Said Washington: "There’s no way I could take him out of the lineup now."

Here's an interesting comparison July 31-Aug 19 (not counting last night's game)
Teagarden OPS .881
Byrd OPS .878
Ivan Rodriguez as a Ranger
1.750 OPS – 355 OPS+
By 2028, Mark Teixeira will be in the HOF.
"I am one of the biggest Texas Ranger fans out there but I'm also one of the smartest. Deal with it."
