We really need
to take 2 of 3 from the Yanks this week
"We mean what we say and we say what we mean." -The Purke Family
That would be great
but they really need to not lose more than one game to Boston in the loss column through Thursday. Winning two assures that, but they have to win one to make it likely.

Yes but trending the wrong way...
…with that four game losing streak :)
I have no objection to man walking on the moon.
They have to trade Greinke here in the next year or two, right?

Those Lil' Hillmans are leading the race!
(For the 2nd overall pick in the 2010 First Year Player Draft, that is)
Who was it that wanted Hillman here so bad, and repeated it 10,000 times again?

And the little bastard threw it for a swinging strike three in a 3-2 count. He’s blessed. And ballsy.

Since I should be working
I did a WC projection…
BOS 95-67
TEX 93-69
TBR 89-73
Of course the margin of error is +/- 20 games. :)
Unless the offense gets going and starts scoring at ~5.0 runs/gm clip, the Rangers won’t make the playoffs. They can’t afford to be losing 3-4 or 4-5 ballgames.

Martin Perez - Nolan Ryan Rangers Minor League Pitcher of the Year
Agreed that they need to start scoring
Have to hope that the return of Nelly Cruz and Chris Davis to the lineup helps things.
looking at your projections...
this past month (since july 24th) the Rangers are 16-13.
24-15 the rest of the way?
what do you think will be the basis for this improvement?

So, wait a minute - the Rangers are only 16-13 over their last month with Hank playing every day?
It’s amazing. As he continues to suck more and more, they draw closer to .500. The ridiculously flimsy basis of Josey argument just folded like an energy-based de novo protein in conformational space… like a Renaissance triptych… like a cheap suit.

i thought you were goin dennis miller
i don’t wanna get off on a rant here but insert bunch of obscure things with big words that even if you do understand it, it’s not funny
if i didn’t like bad religion i’d say that dennis miller is the bad religion of comedy.

5th inning against the Tigers
I like Dennis Miller
but I get many (but not all) of his jokes since I’m an academic nerd.
Go Rice Owls!
Same here
That’s why I like BBT. I appreciate nerd humor and application of intellectual analogies to random everyday situations.

in all fairness...
…as chris davis kept sucking, the Rangers moved from +11 to +6 – in great part because of his lack of offensive contribution.
blalock keyed a good start to july with his bat (7-2 w/ blalock 14 of 35).
as i mentioned in another thread – if chris can do what hank did and ignite a mini-rally, it might keep texas in it a little longer.

Start of July
Davis didn’t get sent down until after July 5th. We went 4-0 from the 1st-5th WITH Davis in the lineup. We proceeded to go 3-4 over the next 7 games to get to the ASB and then lost our first two after the break.
Bryan Smith (12:17:17 PM PT): Justin Smoak and Josh Hamilton. The AL West might just have found their Bash Brothers, v. 2.0.
you're right... cd DID play july 1st
Blalock’s 2nd homer helps Rangers walk away from Angels in 9th
davis was 1-4, hb was 3-5 w/ 3 rbi
i was wrong w the dates. i guess it was hb’s fluke offensive streak that sent cd down in the first place. my bad… certainly though you aren’t implying that davis had anything to do with us going 4-0 to start july though, are you? again, it was despite davis and subsequently it has been despite blalock.
fwiw – cd was 2-11 in july, which is about what we got from hb most recently.

Im not implying that at all
It was just how you said Hank ignited a key start to July and Josey keeps throwing out how this thing turned around when Hank started playing everyday and Davis was sent down when in fact when Davis was sent down this thing kinda went in a mini tailspin.

With Blalock they went from +6 to -5.5. Enough said.

good point
because chris davis playing like shit made the angels worse and hank blalock playing like shit made the angels better.
got it.

Just saying they have both sucked
Up until 3 days ago Hank hadn’t walked since the AS break. Do you not understand they both have sucked? You must be one of Joseys sons.

Not to mention
The Rangers are still in the race inspite of the 1b production.

Then we are on the same page
You made it seem Hank was playing out of his mind in your original post.

well, you could say that any number of our horribly slumping offensive positions could wake up
and send us on a mini-rally, Ian, Josh, D-Murph/Byrd/Nellie, Catching position, DH, 1B… its seems like all those spots are performing below what we’d expect pre-season.

Projections for the Angels?
Do they hit 100 wins against all odds?
Hell no!
