What will the roster move be?
Today is D-day. Well actually CD-day. As reported Sunday night, Chris Davis will be activated by the Rangers for tonight's game vs the Yankees. However no corresponding roster move has yet been announced. What are the realistic options?
DFA or DL Blalock? The Rangers won't do it for the simple reason that they have no other option if Chris Davis struggles again.
DFA Andruw Jones? They have stuck with him this long into the season. They won't dump him days before the rosters expand.
DL AJ? His hamstring has been bothering him the past month making it difficult to run out GBs.
Option Mathis to OKC? That would mean going with a 6 man bullpen vs NY. Not a good idea.
Option Borbon? He would have to stay in OKC for 10 days. Would dropping him and adding Davis just be spinning the wheels offensively?
What will the Rangers do? Also, who will break the news? Evan Grant, Andro/Wilson or TR sullivan?

DL Jones is the way to go!
He is still here and still available if needed.
I'm tired of hearing about team chemistry. You are telling me these fuckers wouldn’t like to have a teammate that could actually help the team win, instead of being down 2-4 spots.
why, isn't Andruw more likely to contribute something compared to Hank?

yes but
hank has been a ranger for 9 years, andruw for 9 months. and he seems to be well-liked in the clubhouse, even with his struggles on the field. i think they probably realize it’d be a shitty way to to conclude his tenure here. either way, we’d have access to both of them once rosters expand and the DL stint is over, but without having to play them with any regularity.

I'm with you there.

I think we will hear
sob stories about Andruw’s knees and Hammys.

Not a chance in hell they release Blalock or Andruw........
They didn’t do it with Sideshow Sammy 2 years ago, despite him being useless and the team being about 76 games behind the Angels.
Wash has too much “respect” for veteran players to make them feel the shame of being released.
Andruw will be placed on the DL or Mathis will be sent down, thats what the gut says to do.
So they will bury Andruw on the bench in September.......
…..after he comes off of the DL. But I highly doubt they’ll DFA him.
Agree completely.
Somebody’s going on the DL.
