LF who is a lefty masher, Id be all for him platooning with D-Murph in LF in the future. He'd be a better option than Boggs who isnt really a LHP masher. We already have a crowded OF, I know, but id love to pick him up as he could be a very useful player for us, especially if we move an OF this offseason.

I saw that, also and had some of the same thoughts.

Is it worth a look/see? What other dead weight do we have on the 40? What are the rules concerning waiver pick-ups?

he still has an option remaining for this year so we'd just have to make room on the 40

im sure we could find room. It just depends on whether or not he’d be worth leaving on the 40 over the offseason instead of making room for another Rule 5 canidate. Personally, id rather have Murton than Boggs if we ended up picking Murton up and having to boot one come offseason

Eh, Boggs can play CF and his minor league #'s indicate he should be able to do the same thing vs. lefties

Plus he’s got more service time left.

Hank is 7 runs below a zombie replacement at first base. Do you realize how terrible that is? Zombie’s can’t think, they’re slow, and they’re often ejected from the game for eating opposing baserunners’ brains. - Ben quantifies Hank Blalock

really? im pretty sure Boggs hasnt been that good against LHP pitchers

at least, not much better than against RHP. Boggs has not played CF pretty much at all this year or last, i dont think Wash would ever play him in CF at the ML level so im not really gonna give that to him. I like Boggs as a defensive player alot, but im not sure if he’d be much better or any better than the Murton.

In the end, the fact that Murton has had some very good success against LHP in the ML over a good sample size is why id take him. Yea, his service time is more, but im not too worried about the service time of a platoon OF, im just looking for someone i can use the next couple of years in platoon with Borbon and Murph.

.735 OPS vs. LHP to 804 OPS vs. RHP this year

im not sure where to look at the career MiLB splits.

Splits:

.857 OPS against LHP with a career +9 UZR in LF… id love to have him sitting around on our 40, he’d be extremely useful for a team without many lefty-mashers.
