Thursday morning Rangers stuff
Okay. It has been an extremely annoying morning for me already.
Links.
Evan Grant's post-game thoughts.
Jason Jennings has been DFA'd, and Pedro Strop is coming up.
Wilson writes about Elvis Andrus.
Some various notes about Feliz, Grilli and Byrd.
Jim Reeves with a column on Bobby V.

Good article from Reeves
on Bobby V.
"Dying ain't hard. It's living that's hard."
"Ranger players, especially veterans, weren’t surprised that Daniels couldn’t find a deal"
So I guess its not a good time for my smarmy Jennings comments.
the preceding post was a great success.
seems like the perfect time, actually.
Grieve: The Yanks have struggled so far. - Lewin: Yeah, cry me a bag of money.
Dykstra has all the money!

no no, not about jennings in general.
about AJM’s defense of him.
the preceding post was a great success.
McCarthy, Dozer, Jennings
Adam, we realize that you are in the business of ruining people’s lives, but could you exclude Rangers pitchers?
Please don’t pick a new favorite pitcher to prop up in the face of our criticism. You’ve done enough already.
"You can probably stick a fork in the Rangers' playoff chances for 2009." - AJM on 7/26 with the team 4.5 games out
I'm anti-Feldman?
I was one of the handful of folks in the ‘07-08 offseason saying, "Don’t drop him from the 40 man roster," when people were claiming he was a waste of space, and very loudly proclaimed that he should be in the rotation this season and said that putting him in the bullpen was a mistake.

Dozer was the only one of that group I really had as a favorite
Jennings, I just didn’t think had been so terrible this year as to deserve being released.
Apparently, the team felt otherwise after last night.

Adam wasn't a big McCarthy apologist, IIRC
As a staunch McCarthy apologist myself, I should know.

Bobby V is looking for a challenge
maybe he should try managing the Pirates?
That's more like a death wish.
Hank is the elephant in the room. When will he disappear?

i hope
Bobby V comes back to the states to manage. he definitely makes things fun and interesting. good luck to him.
If the Rangers weren't doing well
is there any question that Nolan would already have Bobby V lined up to come in here and take over? I still wouldn’t be surprised if it happened because those two were pretty close when Nolan played here. But with the team doing well, we will probably have to stick with Wash for another year and his unwavering loyalty to whatever veterans are on the team next year.
"Thank God for Feldman." - Ron Washington to Eric Nadel, August 2008
hey man he's grown
look at how many rooks he’s playing now, and what’s happened to Easy Eddie, JJ, Steroid Jones and Kank Blalock in the past few weeks…and the mystical Marlon Byrd kidney stone.

Next swing & miss?

And the little bastard threw it for a swinging strike three in a 3-2 count. He’s blessed. And ballsy.
I don't get this comment
I think that overall the team is doing a pretty good job breaking in a LOT of young talent and contending at the same time. Given the youth of this team and the turnover in the pitching staff I think Washington is being underrated here by most.
