I don't begrudge Hank
CD needed to go down to get his act together. Hank struggled but played solid defense, had some timely hits in some big games, and was the Rangers only real option. But I think they are much better off with a confident Davis. His defense may take some time to come around as he only played first 9 times at OKC.

A National League team was awarded the claim on Heilman, one source said. The claiming team on Harden is not known, but presumably he did not get through the NL, either. Players must pass through their own league first before being exposed on waivers to teams in the other league.
The Cubs will have until Monday afternoon to work out trades, allow Harden and Heilman to depart on claims or pull them back them from waivers.

If you liked the show
do NOT check out the DTDVD movie released this year.
They replaced the dark comedy and attitude of the show with teen melodrama. It was awful.
And I’d been looking forward to it since it was announced.
Their biggest mistake (well, aside from the entire "plot") was trying to replace Laura Harris with another actress as Daisy Adair
I hate it when shows try to replace actors instead of characters.
Hank is 7 runs below a zombie replacement at first base. Do you realize how terrible that is? Zombie’s can’t think, they’re slow, and they’re often ejected from the game for eating opposing baserunners’ brains. - Ben quantifies Hank Blalock
Yeah, Betty only lasted like the first 3 or 4 episodes or something
Then they brought in Laura Harris. Which for me was where the show really took off, LOL.
I’m talking about in the “Life After Death” movie though – they couldn’t get Laura Harris to play Daisy (just like they couldn’t get the guy who played Rube back), but instead of replacing Daisy like they did Rube, they replaced Laura with the gal who played her sister on “24”. It was saddening.

I would've taken the hit to the FX department if it meant keeping the show on air.
The story finally got really good and the killed it. At least move it to Sci-Fi or something (or SyFy, whatever the fuck).
Terminator was canned

BOSTON: 3 v. TOR, 3 @ TB, 3 @ CWS, 2 v. BAL, 3 v. TB, 3 v. LAA

What a great win and great series win
I’m sure that you guys talked about this in the monstrous GDT, but I just got home and was running through the high points of the game, and what the heck was Melky Cabrera doing in the bottom of the fourth on that DP? We all know that MLB is too lax on requiring runners to slide into the base when they are trying to break up a double play, but I’ve never seen anything like that play. He was at least eight feet out of the baseline when he slid into Andrus, and he had to re-route so badly to slide into Andrus as he ran sideways that he was sliding at a 45-50 degree angle with the baseline.
I have to think that they would have called Molina out because of the slide anyway, but what the heck does Melky think he’s doing? Does he think you can just chase guys into RF and tackle them?
Tackles
better than Roy Williams, ill give him that much.
I guess he was just doing whatever he could to breakup the DP. Cant really blame him for that but you are right there probably has to come a time where he just concedes it.

that one of these reason I would like to take ball-strike call away from umps
Now if I was NY/Bos I would be screaming bloody murder. The umps get it wrong on a constitant basis that favor a few teams (one of those teams isn’t the Rangers) that means the umps aren’t objective. A call here a call there, squeeze the zone a little and over the course of 162 games etc. And don’t even get me started about the $200,000,000 payroll and the small market teams like Pittsburgh.

Texas went to NY and managed to not lose any ground to Boston. MIssion accomplished. We’ll see if they are that successful in September when they go in there.

anyone interested
in starting a scoreborad watching thread for tonight?
Elvis Andrus - 2009 AL Rookie of the Year
Mitch Moreland -Tom Grieve Rangers Minor League Player of the Year
Martin Perez - Nolan Ryan Rangers Minor League Pitcher of the Year
Thing I did not know.
Ian Kinsler is first in the Power/Speed stat.
I also don’t know exactly what/how that measures, but w/e. Kinz is first.
From the Yankee's blog on sb nation
“My buddy texted me “Why isn’t Texas better? They’re [expletive] good. They should be running away with the division.” Baseball’s a funny game."
Finally get respect. Finally we’re actually good not just good for for a month out of the season. We’re actually good now, and fans of the other teams actually see it.
I'm just goofin' new boot goofin'
Yeah that confused me as well

By 2028, Mark Teixeira will be in the HOF.

Ain't that par for the course when it comes to twitter?
lol.
Hank is 7 runs below a zombie replacement at first base. Do you realize how terrible that is? Zombie’s can’t think, they’re slow, and they’re often ejected from the game for eating opposing baserunners’ brains. - Ben quantifies Hank Blalock
No, not really

There should be baseball Grilli and business Grilli
He has some good basebal tweets, but you have to fight through all the business plugs.
He was wearing me out with that shit during his rehab. But I guess I am the one who chooses to follow…
Grilli's twitter...
Did it get hacked? Some of those read as spam.

the night of the first Yankees win
Hanson’s anchors were both telling him to lead with Rangers and he said I’ll get to it soon enough.
"We have a better chance to win with other guys in the lineup," said Blalock, who is hitting .190 the past 30 games. "That’s something I’ve got to deal with."

Yep, I despise them
Much to the confusion of everyone in Cali who sees me and thinks Texan = Cowboys fan. I hope they go 0-16 every year.
And while we are at it, why does Adam allow a Channel 11 sports ad that only shows Cowboys news on his sidebar? That always annoys me.

The cowboys
get all the attention because way more people in dfw care about them than they do the rangers. Plain and simple. The truth is that if the rangers gave us winning seasons every year, they would get more pub. In the media’s eyes, they will go with cowboys news because they will get more viewers/listeners.
You are right
And you are wrong
I don’t have to be subjected to what the media determines is news.
I called two stations and bitched already. Done my part.
Your baseball anger is inspirational..

I do occasionally melt in my chair. Very strange feeling.

Study the program
There’s usually open phone lines at the beginning of any show
The odds of you getting through in the middle of the day are a lot greater than during the ‘morning’ and ‘afternoon’ shows – since those programs are structured to be more ‘local’ and thus encompass broader spectrums of information, such as entertainment, traffic, etc
If during a segment you hear the main host(s) speaking intently about a certain topic, chances are the producers are in the background taking calls
During commercial breaks is another good time to call
As a side note, I am very surprised how much easier it is for me to get through on the phone. It used to be a pain in the ass. But, strangely enough, for about as long as The Fan has been on the air, there seems to be more open phone lines, at BOTH stations. Obviously the volume of calls going into The Fan is greater than those going into The Ticket, but I think The Ticket, perhaps as a reaction, has gotten better at accepting phone calls. Granted, they have better screeners also
Good to know.
And you may have made Norm tack on another Rangers segment. Good job.

I'm serious. More LSBers need to call into the talk shows
The buzz only survives if more people participate. And frankly, there’s people here that have better things to say than Al in Garland… but, i don’t know a single one of you that calls into shows.
Why does it matter to me that the Rangers need to bum-rush the press? Because, when you think about it, the press is nothing but an army of Josey Waleses. And they plant that seed in the public consciousness…
It’s not right.

u hate the cowboys because of the media love affair with them?
then i guess you hate obama as well :)
usa
careful now
If this degenerates into a a political discussion, tball will call you a jackass
Strangely enough,
I consider the president just a tad more important than the local football team.

"I'm against picketing, but I don't know how to show it." - Mitch Hedberg
I'm willing to bet
that the average cowboy fan (defined by having a gigantic star on the back of their pickup) is more likely to know who the Cowboys punter is than know who the vice president is.
Of course, that is probably true for all football teams/fans, sadly. But it is pick on Cowboys fans day around here…
Go Rice Owls!
This sports/politics hierarchy talk reminds me of my favorite George Will quote
“Baseball is to America what revolutions are to Latin America, a safety valve for letting off steam. I think that baseball is more important than any Latin American revolution, but then again, I am a serious fan.”
